Made a slight progress I think yesterday. I have written to Fulham archives where Blanche when married went to live and they have gone the extra mile for me. They think that she could have worked in the large tent manufacturing place near on with stating canvas machinist. They have found the next door neighbours were Edward William Webb and his wife Gertrude who I have looked and found out that they married in 1911. Maybe they were some relative if all else fails may have to buy their marriage cert. Also they found out for me that Blanche reached 30 for voting in the region April to Oct. 1923. I cannot unfortunately find a birth in Surrey within that time frame. The only one is a Blanche Hilda born just before this in Wandsworth. On the 1911 census I thought I had found her as a 17 servant stating born Islington, born 1894. |

My guess is that the Ada in 1911 is Emma Ada born 1894, not with her family in 1911 (I checked). |

Re trying to locate London/Surrey /Middlesex...and just as an example, my grandmother was born Chiswick (Middlesex) but at 16 was in service in Richmond (Surrey)...so had I not searched outside Middlesex/London would not have found her. |

Did also yesterday receive a communication from the archives in Surrey, they had gone to a lot of trouble for me and searched the local church records and no births of Webb girls were found in any period around these dates. They also seached some school records for me and found no Webbs. So many people have tried to help I am a bit overcome with all your help would love to have good news for you. Will keep trying myself but my options are getting smaller. Must check where Mitcham is, not too familiar with London in districts only the tourists spots. Just know it is in Surrey. Fulham where Blanche eventually lived is in Middlesex so easy to move districts. Talk again soon, regards Sandra |

I have seen this 1911 census, could be right but the dob could be wrong. Ordered a 3 year search for Ada's dob. The man I spoke to very helpful. Could not put London as birth place had to settle for Surrey, he explained that even though it was compulsary to register a birth not everyone complied, if she had not registered one then she probably had not registered any. On the 1901 census he told me they may not be in care but looked after by someone and for some reason or other not put on the census, this is quite common he told me. This meant I may not find them without a lot of hard work on the 1891 census and the 1911. Have bought about 5 - 1911 census sheets, all wrong of course. I did know where I think she was in 1918 working at or near an Enteric fever hospital this is where she met her future hospital. Will ask relative which hospital I found in London. |

All it revealed were more problems Blanche birth was about 1894 if you believe what she says on her marriage cert at least I now know there was no named father. George I was told was older than Ada, I think she was born 1896/7/8 and about two years later Lily. I have looked at institutions on another web site asking for Surrey, then Middlesex then London only looking for Ada Webb as that was the easiest to look for but still no joy. Have written to Surrey archives and asked for their local knowledge, with my luck they moved them out of London for a while. My brain is having to work sideways but you have all helped me focus. |

It's looking very much as if there was no Fred Webb, deceased or otherwise at the time of the marriages. |

Blanche, we think the oldest aged 24 when married in June 1918 spouse William George Bradfield (Another name that I cannot find on BMD) aged 45 years they married at Fulham registry office, the home address was on Ongar Road, still there. |
