COMPUTER BACK AGAIN. Could not get rid of the virus as it would not let me run my antivirus programme or any other programmes for that matter, Had to take it in for repair and they said they had had a lot of people with the same problem and the free AVG was not coping with this virus. They originally told me it would be £30 to get rid of the virus + £15 for new AVG software (which they recommended) I took their advice let computer with them. On picking it up this a.m. they only charged me £35 which I thought was worth every penny. |

Friends Reunited, the parent site of GR, has actually removed ads from their site this weekend because people were getting the virus warnings. They are getting their ad company to check all ads to ensure that none of them have viruses embedded in them. |

I have reported this to GR. Twice in the last 2 days I have entered this site through GR emails (one from them with updates and one from another member. My Avast security detected a virus both times. Support have come back to me saying they suspect there may be a virus in one of the ads on the page. They are checking all the ads to try and find it. |

Never open any of these warning messages, even if they appear to come from your installed anti virus program. Instead go straight to your anti virus programme and run a scan. Sometimes problems will remain if you have a virus/trojan which your AV program does not remove. in that case I can strongly recommend an anti malware program called Malware Bytes. |

The real point of these programs is to frighten you by telling you there are dozens of viruses / trojans then trying to encourage you to pay for "the cure" |

There is a thread on Rootschat about people having a virus warning coming up when they try to come onto this site. |

I got a similar warning yesterday (and recall I have had it before). On trying to close it it ran a scan anyway and told me I had hundreds of Trojans and so on. It looked like an authentic Windows message, but I managed to google it where I was told it was a scam. However, to get rid of it I had to press CTRL/ALT/DEL and close the program. |

This Is a virus or malware / adware problem so you can't ignore it. You need to run a scan as soon as possible, both for viruses and for adware. |

It happened when I came on to genes this afternoon, but a notice "Security Tool Warning" keeps popping up and I cannot get access to to my security settings. Also it keeps crashing and it takes ages to get back so if I do not reply to anybody I'm sorry, but cannot get access to PC. |

On my computer an icon keeps popping up telling me that I have viruses in my computer but when I click on to get rid of them they want to charge me $49.95. I have Windows free antivirus programme updates installed automatically. Can anyone tell me how I can get rid of this Security Tool warning. Hope you can understand this. |
