Coincidenses do happen a lot in life I find, some good and some def not good.
But thats life.
I must go now,but will try again later for a marriage, but if one wasnt found before I doubt I will outdo our other excellent helpers on GR.

Yes, that seems to be them, how can Faulkner become Halkier in translation!!??

It's weird 'cos I can find birth certs for children William, Rachel and Rosina, but not the others - Edward, Charles and Jessie. I also couldn't find evidence of 2 other rumoured children Florence and John, but you seem to have found a Florence that fits the bill - thank you so much FBG as you've found more info in the last hour than I've found in the last year! At least I can definately discount Aylesbury, and it seems they were in Stepney in 1901. It's funny 'cos the church that William Faulkner was baptised in in 1890 is the same church that I was a bridesmaid in in 1978!!!

The Aylesbury Jessie Faulkner's parents names were Alfred Faulkner and Elsie Stephens (sorry, I'm slow, I'm desperately looking for the cert amongst all my papers!)

FannyByGaslight Report 4 Feb 2010 14:09

Not missing, but that number house seems to be missed out from census.

What were her parents names please, the one in Aylesbury?

Aylesbury Jessie Faulkner was born on 22 December

Jennifer Report 4 Feb 2010 14:07

FBG - I've never manager to find any record (apart from 1911 census) of Edward - do you mean you have found a record of his baptism?

The family seemed to move around a lot - if the pages on the 1901 census are missing is there any way I can get hold of them - why would they be missing?

Hi Ian - I found that one but when I ordered the cert. the parents were different. The big coincidence is that the Aylesbury Jessie Faulkner was born on 22 December (close to my Jessie on 25 December), and William Faulkner's father (also William Faulkner) originally came from Stewkley in Buckinghamshire which is only around 10 miles from Aylesbury.

I'm not sure if I'm reading too much into it or not - and should I investigate this thread further? Although, when I checked the 1911 census there does appear to be a Jessie Faulkner living in Aylesbury (aged 7) - I didn't actually view the census as I had no credits left but thought this probably discredited my theory?

also have you looked under JESSE rather than JESSIE?

Also have you seen this one?

Theres this one, as she was born the very end of the year it is quite possible that she wasnt registered until the January etc therefore the below one is possibly her, definately worth ordering the certificate to confirm it. you could ask them at the reg office to check details before confirming order. For example checking mothers name!

Births Mar 1904
Faulkner Jessie Aylesbury 3a 963

Yes, I thought that may be the case so I've always done phonetic searches on the surnames using free bdm and the GR website. I'm really more interested in finding my grandmother's birth cert and wonder if there is somewhere else I could look - any ideas?

ceri

ceri Report 4 Feb 2010 13:35

The problem being both of those surnames would be prone to mistranscription or spelt incorrectly at the time

Julie

Julie Report 4 Feb 2010 13:33

Yes i remember now ...... i remember Louisa's surname

Jennifer

Jennifer Report 4 Feb 2010 13:22

Yes - that's them in 1911!
My grandmother is Jessie Faulkner (born 25th Dec 1903 in Limehouse - but cannot find a birth cert).
William Faulkner and Louisa Quaintrell were born in 1866/7 but no marriage certificate -
I've looked and looked but to no avail!!!
