I have found various prices quoted, so I was wondering if anyone knew where the cheapest place is please. The prices I've seen seem very expensive compared with the £7 for England and Wales.

CarrieJ Report 1 Sep 2009 20:37

cheapest I found was the actual Groni, 10 or 11 Euros including P+P

Groni

Thanks - I'll look into that. The cheapest I'd found was 25 euros!!!

Janice

What do you mean by Irish - Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland

In the republic - I pay €4 for a photocopy.
Not sure about Northern Ireland

It's Co Kerry I'm interested in but I live in the UK. I looked at GRONI but you don't get a reduction for knowing the reference if you order online, only if you go in person.

You want the Southern Ireland one.....in Roscommon.

Photo copies are cheaper than purchasing a BDM Certificate printed on the Official Certificate paper.

A Photo copy gives you exactly the same details and cost €6..about £8.

No additional charge for postage..at least I never have been charged for postage!

Thank you :-)

Just had a look and it says 6 euros for photocopy, 10 euros for proper cert,
you can't order online and cheques have to be in euros, drawable on an Irish bank!!!!!!!

They don't make things easy do they?

If you have the details from:
http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#start
click on Europe and scroll down for Ireland 1845-1958

You can get Irish Certs from:
Civil Registration Office
Office of the Registrar General
Roscommon
Ireland
Tel: +353 (0) 90 6632900
fax: +353 (0) 90 6632999

You need the persons name as per the family search site, district ie Cork plus the volume number and the page
They don't take orders over the phone - I send a fax with my ccard details.
The cost is €4 for a photocopy of the certificate.
I do this regularly and find the service very efficient - they even phoned me today to double check a reference I'd given.

Hi Mummy Bear,

Am I on the right site here?

http://www.groireland.ie/about_us.htm

I can't find where it says 4 euros - only 6 for a photocopy.

(Off to work now; back this evening)

Mummy Bear Report 2 Sep 2009 11:03

They seem to be busy at the moment. I sent my last order (38 certs) on 10th August and I still haven't received it but they did phone me with a query yesterday and said they'd send today.
Prior to that order on 5th August (12 certs) arrived 27th August. Earlier in the year ~3 weeks ish.

I'd give them a quick call and ask them if they've received the fax (that's always my fear they've not received it and my finger nails are bitten to the quick waiting in the meantime)

Or check your ccard online and see if they've taken payment - a sure sign the cert is on its way.

Sorry....my mistake

On each application form it says:

"Photocopies of entries in the registers are also available at a cost of €6.00, (additional copies -€4.00).

These contain exactly the same information as a Certificate but are only of use for research purposes."

Teresa With Irish Blood in Me Veins

Teresa With Irish Blood in Me Veins Report 2 Sep 2009 11:48

They do seem to be taking a long time at the moment in sending out certificates.

I orderd 4 certificates about 4 weeks ago and not recieved them yet.

In the past they have taken about 3-4 weeks.

Janice

Give them a call as there's some uncertainty over the cost.
I've only ever paid €4 each for a photocopy cert, which as Teresa mentions is identical to a non-photocopy copy and is great for family history research
