I would welcome any opinions on the purchasing of geneology cd's - if anyone has any thoughts i.e how accurate they are? - the amount of info on them and is this more than can be found by doing the groundwork on census' etc? I would be grateful if you would please post them to this thread |

It depends what CD's you want to buy as to who stocks and sells them, some Parish Registers / Bishops Transcripts come from small churches / villages etc. and there may not be a lot on the CD so they not of commercial interest to the larger CD sellers, that's why I said go to the society shop |

Parish Chest don't actually produce or stock any of the items they sell, they are agents selling the items on their site for a commision on behalf of the supplier, they don't have a clue what's on the CD unless the seller has given them the details of it to add to the product description, they do not stock the items on their site, if you ask them about a specific item they have to e-mail the supplier and ask for that info. If you buy anthing from them they e-mail the supplier the order details and the supplier ships out the goods direct to the customer, that's why I referred you to the Nottinham FHS site and shop. The original supplier may or may not have a website where they can sell their wares so they use Parish Chest as an outlet |

Elaine - It's the range of dates covered, and the # of records transcribed. |
