I use IE8,right clicking on "family tree" does give me the option to open tab or window.Control is not used. |

If I remember correctly there are different ways to set up your browser which will determine whether or not new tabs or new pages open. So different people me see different effects. Basic principle is the same though. |

Thanks Jim, you made me realise what Brinsley was saying. I was missing out an essential part of his instructions. Opened my tree as normal and once opened I was only pressing Ctrl expecting something miraculous to happen before my eyes I wasn't clicking on the family tree button again. Have just tried it and it works beautifully too. I'm actually quite a fan of tabs. Sometimes I have a series of tabs open to flick around amongst IGI, GR and BMD for instance. |

I have tried the control left click on "family Tree" and it opens tabs along the top. |

Hi Brinsley I wonder if you'll come back to this thread. Tried the hold down Ctrl trick but nothing happened. Do I have to do it at the same time as opening my tree the first time, or do I perhaps have to wait a little while. It's a bit academic because I tried Jim's option which worked nicely. But I'm just interested why your way wouldn't work for me. |

I am relatively new to researching my family history and have found the Tips Board to be very helpful. I wondered how to open more than one tree and now I know its so simple and time saving. Thank You |

Thank you BrinsleyS that's a brilliant tip. I didn't think we could view more than one tree at a time since GRs improvements and now we can. Thank you so much. |

I have to just say, BrinsleyS is a very clever man! he solved a very difficult problem for me recently, just when I was getting to screaming pitch. . Deserves much gratitude. |

Many many thanks - where were you when I needed you, with my earlier discoveries of matching trees! S--'s law - I suppose I shall never get access to anything but the odd one-off name again, but at least I know I shan't have to do the laborious copying out of details to be entered (never quite got the hang of using a clipboard either). |
