Just realised that I made a bit of a cock up when ordering James and Harriett's marriage cert - I ordered 1st quarter when I should have ordered 3rd quarter!!!!! That is why the bride is not Harriett!
The morale of this story is to save the glass of wine for AFTER you have ordered certs! lol

Hi Christine,
I have looked at the site - and it is great, but too early.
i should have posted that I have found the marriage at the archives - they were married at St Stephens in Sneinton Nottingham. This is not in the center, but on the outskirts of the city.
I searched the obvious parishes - and just when I was ready to give up I had a break and looked at the records the archives had available. I asked for the NFHS cd and found the marriage within 10 mins!!!!
of course, once i knew the parish it was easy to find the records of the marriage on the microfiche!
I will, however, save the website you have found for earlier relatives. The coverage is not great, but it may come in useful.
Thanks for thinking of me!

nudge for ease of reference.
Elaine you have asked subtly different questions on other threads but it would be easier for us and yourself if you stuck to one thread. There has been some duplication of effort.

HI,
Has anyone got any ideas how I find a connection between Isaiah Wood [1809-12] and Enos Wood [1815]
They were both born in Geddington/Kettering in Northamptonshire - but I can find now evidence of a connection. Enos was a witness at Isaiah's wedding.
It has been suggested that they may be brothers - but maybe cousins?
Any help would be most appreciated!

You thought the 1812 marriage was too early for Alfredis father
I was posting it as the marriage for Isaiah's father. I am convinced that Isaiah and John were brothers. Got to fly now but will spwak tonight

Hi Ladykira,
I could ASSUME that they are both related - but that could be leading me down the wrong path! I totally agree that the coincidences of place and name are too good to ignore - but I can find no evidence of a connection between them. I always thought that the basis of good research was fact.
I can find no document with both their names on i.e. by the 1841 census Isaiah had married and had a family of his own - so the 1841 census shows only Enos and siblings. I dont know how or where to access a birth record [if there is one for 1809-1811] and I can find no record of Isaiah's baptism.
The only proven connection is that they both had a father called John. Isaiah's father was, I know, a tailor [as it is stated on his marriage cert] I have no idea what the occupation of Enos' father was, as it doesnt state on any of the census returns.

If John and Elizabeth were Isaiah's parents then he was likely to be the eldest as they wer married in 1812 too.
It is possible that John and or Elizabeth were fom Cranford or elsewhere but Settled in Geddington as newley weds.

I have found a Will made by Enos - I think I may obtain a copy - it could answer all my questions!?
Got to be worth a try.
