lol - that would be about right for my family, Christine - Jewish, Baptist Muslims with Hindu tendancies!! :-)
of course - one of the most well known non-conformist, in England, has got to be Sir Thomas Moore - now I wouldnt mind being related to him. A man of principles!!!!

Hi Christine,
the marriage cert of James Taylor and Harriet Clarke - i ordered this through the GRO and they sent me a message saying 'We have not produced a certificate as the bride is not Harriett Clarke.' [1845 Mar Radford 15 842]
Marriages Sep 1845 (>99%) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BARBER William Radford 15 852 CLARKE Harriett Radford 15 852 GREAVES Julia Ann Radford 15 852 HICKLING Mary Ann Radford 15 852 MARRIOTT Joseph Radford 15 852 PARR Mary Radford 15 852 PORTER Matthew Radford 15 852 TAYLOR James Stanley Radford 15 852
i thought that this marriage was a forgone conclusion - so put off ordering for a while - so now i dont know who he married! in the 1851, 1861 & 1871 censu's his mother in law is living with them and her name is Sarah Clarke - so I made the assumption that Harriet's maiden name was Clarke.
Where on earth do I go from here?

Actually looking at it closely now I am surprised.

We know your James Taylor is an optician
Marriage cert No - 249 7/9/1869 Alfred Burton Wood & Jane Taylor Both ‘full age’ - bachelor and spinster Occupation - provision merchant Residence at time of marriage - Notintone Place, Ilkeston, Derbyshire Father of groom - John Wood - provision merchant Father of bride - James Taylor - optician Parish Church of Sneinton, Nottinghamshire Witnesses - James Taylor and Harriett Taylor
I am finding it difficult to see that Harriet Clarke is not the right one
I think this is a later marriage
"John, James and Joseph Lennie
James Lennie died in 1854. Around 1872, Eliza Lennie married optician James Taylor from Haywood, England. There were three stepsons: John Lennie
James Lennie
Joseph Lennie"
I think I will follow it through though

Hi Christine,
yes - i did copy most of the replies - thank goodness!
why would someone go through and delete all of their replies to a thread? this must take them some time and seems rather pointless. i can see no harm in leaving replies on the thread?
Seeing as though it looks like I shall not make it to Northamptonshire [in the forseeable future] - do you think it worth me investing in some CD's that sites offer for sale? and would you [or anyone else reading this thread] be able to recommend some sources to me? - together with any pros and cons of the CDs?
Thanks again for your help Christine - I will check out the info

Sorry I have not had experience of using the cd's yet but I am considering some for my self,
If you paste the info that was lost back onto your thread it will then be easier to follow and only you can delete that.
We are taking a trip to the cotswolds this month where lots of mine come from. We are also celebrating 30 years of marriage. We have just booked in at a lovely guest house. I am looking forward to the break. Being our own business there is not much time for holidays.
