Thank you so much Mike. So how would I find which Thomas Charlesworth is John's dad, if no wife's name was given? Or do I just look for a Thomas in Ashby of the approximate right age? I think there were a few Charlesworths in Ashby!!! I'll be struggling to get back any further....would a visit to Ashby help do you think? Again, many many thanks Cindi

Your answer is……..
THOMAS CHARLESWORTH.
Remembering that only the Fathers Name was given in those days.
So the register would go along these lines …..
St: Helen's Parish Church. Ashby de la Zouch.
BAPTISMS ANNO DOMINI. : ~ 1754.
John. Son of Thomas Charlesworth….Bapt. 14th. April.

Mike: You may remember doing lookups for me in 2006 for the Charlesworth family (don't groan!) Could I prevail upon your expertise and kindness again to see if you could find the father of John Charlesworth baptized 17.4.1754 in Ashby de la Zouch (m Catherine Twells 28 Feb 1780 in Castle Donington). I know this is a longshot because it was sooooooo long ago, but - then again - I know you work miracles! Many thanks Cindi

Thats brilliant, thank you so much Mike,
You found a couple of baptisms for children of John and Mary Gough nee Hearn a few months back, children born and died between census, i sent for their birth certs and thats where i found the Ingle Hearn name. Plus Joseph Hearn and his wife were witnesses to John and Mary`s marriage.
Thank you again

Hi all Unfortunately my old pc has given up and I have been forced to get a new one - without all the saved websites and history! I was wondering if anyone can point me back to the website that allows you to search for (I think) poor records, convicts and soldiers of Leicestershire. I am sure I didn't dream this site up but cannot find it anywhere. Also, I have found out one of my lovely ancestors was acquitted of murder in 1833, does anyone know where I would be able to find any more info? Many thanks, Sarah

Thank you Mike, according to my contact the Ingle was added back to make Inglhearn about 1871.
The Mary Hearn c1803 i`m looking for, had Ingley/Ingle? as a middle name on one of her sons birth certs and the informant on her death cert was a John Inglehearn from 9 Bay Street Leicester, so i am hopeing she belongs somehow to this family or its back to the drawing board
Thanks again Sylvia
