Hi Everyone,
Thanks for sharing my excitement.....it is so satisfying to finally see everything come together.
Considering this is my only posting(that I started in February-my first attempt at Family History research) .....I think that it is going quite well.
I once again would like to thank all of you wonderful kind and generous people who have allowed me to get this far.Your encouragement and support is greatly appreciated!!!!
Ozibird- Thanks for posting the 1851 census etc again :) That is them on the 1881 census!! I think that I had seen that census and hesitated when I noticed that their daughter,Mary Ann, was born in Kings Lynn in Norfolk before they were married.I think that I had intended to follow up on that and got sidetracked(we all know about that little problem!!).
I don't have access to the London Birth's database in my Ancestry subscription....is anyone able to check her birth? (Mary Ann Jones b.19/3/1871 in Kings Lynn, Norfolk parents Mary S Jones-nee Ewins- and Thomas William Jones..father may be somone else possibly)-perhaps the entry will hold some answers. Thanks so much.
Jooleh- On the 1901 census Richard and Robert are both listed as 19 but there was a transcription error(I think) ,Robert was born in 1882 and Richard was born in 1884(that is just off the top of my head).
Girls... I have no idea where Julia Ewins(nee Fitzgerald) and family were in 1861...I suspect that that is possibly around the time when her husband Robert may have died and her circumstances changed.Would she been likely to have been able to afford to travel to Ireland to visit family?
10 years later...in 1871...she was living in Barnet area with William Kenedy and was listed as Julia Kenedy although I don't think that they were married-she had her 2 son Richard and Robert living with her.I have still not worked out why she ended up in Barnet....did she have family connections or was it just a random relocation?
1871 is also the year that her daughter ,Mary S Jones(nee Ewins) would have had HER daughter,Mary Ann, who was born in Kings Lynn in Norfolk.I wonder why she was in Norfolk?
Questions, questions!!! Thank you all so much, Paula X

Hi Everyone :)
Sally- Thanks for your good luck wishes..yes,it is very exciting!!!
Jooleh- As we say in Aussie Land...You are a Legend!!!! Beauty mate!!!...thanks so much for that :) :) :) That find has saved me a lot of time -thank you so much for looking for me.
HMMMMMMMMMM...so they had Mary Ann THEN got married......perhaps they had to move away to do that????..even though it says they are married in 1871 it looks like they got married later,in 1874(I think it was)...
Ozi bird- It certainly was good work on Jooleh's behalf :)
Perhaps THIS is where the profession of Harness maker fits into the picture...If you remember that is what was listed on the marriage certificate of Joseph John Michael Gabrael Ewins to Emma Singleton as the profession of his father....mind you,it also said his father was JOSEPH Ewins but it seems more likely that his father was ROBERT EWINS the BASKETMAKER.
Thank you all for your help, support and interest .It really is VERY much appreciated, Take care PaulaX

Hello Everyone,
Happy New Year !! Hope everyone is happy and well.
The marriage certificate I ordered has arrived and here are the details:
Date: 29th March 1874 Marriage solemnized at The parish Church in the Parish of St Giles in the Fields in the County of Middlesex.
Groom: Thomas Jones age 22 bachelor Harnessmaker Residence: 22 Charles Street Father: Felix Jones Carpenter
Bride: Mary Ewins age 22 spinster Residence: 22 Charles Street Father: Robert Ewins Basketmaker
Married in the Parish Church according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Established Church by /_____/ or after Banns by me,Thomas E Platten. In the presence of us,W.R.Crocker and Emma Dempsey.
This means that her father..Robert Ewins, basketmaker(husband of Julia Ewins nee Fitzgerald)... was probably still alive in 1874.If you recall, the only place I ever located him was on the 1849 marriage to Julia and the 1851 census in Parker Street.Still no-one in 1861 and by 1871 Julia was living with Mr Kenedy in Barnet.
I have found an Emma Dempsey(witness) in 1871-living at 21,22,23 Charles St (a lodging house) 1871 England Census about Emma Dempsey Name: Emma Dempsey Age: 38 Estimated birth year: abt 1833 Relation: Wife Spouse's name: James Gender: Female Where born: London, England Civil parish: St Giles in The Fields Ecclesiastical parish: St Giles County/Island: London Country: England Registration district: St Giles Sub-registration district: St Giles, South ED, institution, or vessel: 12 Household schedule number: 46
I have also searched for Felix Jones,carpenter...with limited sucess.
Here are some possible Felix's...please weigh in with your thoughts everyone.I would value your opinions!!
Here is the only carpenter so far... 1871 England Census about Felix Jones Name: Felix Jones Age: 49 Estimated birth year: abt 1822 Gender: Male Where born: Wales Civil parish: St George The Martyr Ecclesiastical parish: St John The Evangelist Town: London County/Island: London Country: England Registration district: Holborn Sub-registration district: St George the Martyr ED, institution, or vessel: 5a Household schedule number: 240 Household Members: Name Age Eliza Stacey 66 George Stacey 27 Felix Jones 49
then this family: 1851 England Census about Felix Jones Name: Felix Jones Age: 29 Estimated birth year: abt 1822 Relation: Head Spouse's name: Emma Gender: Male Where born: Hambleden, Buckinghamshire, England Civil parish: St Giles in The Fields County/Island: Middlesex Country: England Street Address:

View original image and again in 1861(they have a son,Thomas, who is the right age): 1861 England Census about Felix Jones Name: Felix Jones Age: 38 Estimated birth year: abt 1823 Relation: Head Spouse's name: Emma Gender: Male Where born: Buckinghamshire, England Civil parish: St Giles Ecclesiastical parish: London County/Island: Middlesex Country: England Street Address:

Thank you everyone for all of your help and support...I really find your encouragement and friendship and generosity really refreshing :) Take care, Paula. PS.On his 2nd visit my second cousin(Hi Michael) DID manage to locate the UNMARKED grave of Julia Ewins at Bells Hill Cemetery in Barnet!!!!!! So what started as a hunch was correct!

Lovely for you to get results after all this time

Terrific news, Paula.
I think the Buckinghamshire Felix is probably your bloke. Though nothing in this family is straightforward.

Great to see you're still on the case Paula.
So Robert may still have been alive in 1874 as per Mary's marriage certificate and deceased by 1880 as per Richard's marriage certificate. Can't see him yet in 1871.
Robert gives HIS father's name as Robert on his marriage certificate but I do wonder about the possible connection with William Ewins so here's an entry from the LMA -tuck it away for future reference in case anything new comes to light!
Name: Robert Ewin Record Type: Baptism Date: 11 Jul 1830 Father's Name: William Ewin Mother's Name: Mary Ewin Parish: Saint Matthew, Bethnal Green Borough: Tower Hamlets County: Middlesex
This Robert was born 21st June 1830 according to the image. William is a Brush maker. Address Club Row.
