I want to thank everyone who has helped with tracing this record and I have now managed to get a good idea on what happened. Luckily managed to find a few pages (3) of his WW1 record online. They were a bit scorched but it was his medical report but it gave me the info to patch a few things together |

I have a friend who has a subscription to Ancestry, and luckily 3 pages of his war record survived the Blitz and they were his medical report. This showed his age (although I did know this as I had the GRO ref of his birth) when and where he signed up, his previous occupation and when he had his innoculations, and any time he had off and any time in hospital. |
