I have just had credits and am using also

I'm so excited

BUT - i have explorer package on Findmypast and cannot use this to view 1911 :(

I have been using it tonight as well.
I have the explorer package, but had to buy credits to use it when the beta version was out.
It will not join the subscription packages until "later". They want to extract as much money out of us as possible by making us buy the expensive credits first

Anyone know what it would mean if the District and County columns of a search are both empty?

HI LOOKS LIKE WE SHOULD ALL BE THE FIRST TO KNOW CAN ANYONE TELL WHY THEY ARE NOT DOING SCOTLAND WHICH IS WHAT I NEED OR ANY SITES THAT DO SCOTLAND THANKS

Pam

Pam Report 13 Jan 2009 10:25

TeddyWelshgirl,

Credits cost £6.95 for 60 (The more you buy the cheaper they become) but....

you need 10 for a transcript
30 to see the page

It is too expensive. I will wait until it is available on Ancestry. After all, we have already waited several years so a couple more will not hurt.

There is 10% off if you put in promotion code UYR23PAYG when purchasing credits from Find My Past. Not a lot put every little helps if you really have to buy them. I am still thinking about it. Good luck Irene

could somewhere tell me if the search results for district and county are of the persons birth or where they were living please? i know that on Ancestry it gives both so i just wondered about the results on the 1911 site. i have looked on the site and can't seem to find out for myself.

thank you.

Thanks MGHS. i haven't paid for any credits yet, as like you i think it is a bit expensive! i think one of them is mine on the search results, as i knw they were living in that area but i wasn't sure if it could be someone else if that was where they were born. thank you.

Pam

Pam Report 14 Jan 2009 23:34

I think on the index search it tells you where they were living not where they were born.

I was really disappointed with this. A classic case of "all mouth and trousers". After all the fanfare about its launch lots of counties are missing. I thought the price was ridiculous too (over £3 to view an image unless you cough up £24.95 for loads of credits). Unless you look at the original image you don't get an address, or even a village - just a registration district. To make matters worse, the data submitted by Family History Societies to FamilyHistoryOnline (a fab site which charges about 8p to view a record) is being transferred to FindMyPast who seem to charge 8 credits for the same thing (about 50p). Call me a female Victor Meldrew if you like, but I do feel a bit peeved!!
