Well you've got a bunch of births in Epping (one with his own adopted given name) (and then maybe one in Wandsworth, and then maybe Hendon, then Edmonton ...) that I think must be yours, no? No initial "M" male though!

Although there is an M in Bishops Stortford that fits in the timeline ...

Obviously we have similar blind spots in our brains !

Only have an initial M for the son,but an address in Dec 1997 for him in Gloucestershire.
AND I have a wifes name for Roy Aubrey ,and found his marriage on Ancestry in 1942 Epping.
Start on kids later as there seems to be a couple of family with same mothers maiden name(Brown).
Maybe you can sort some out for me??.

It was lovely GR member Michael who found my stray Wiltshire grx3 grfather getting married in Scotland in 1839 -- leading me to stop looking for him in England in 1841 and find him in Scotland! After 3 years of pointless searching ...

I didnt get credit to check the refs etc and he had added a first name of Roy in front of Aubrey!
Poor Tom searched high and low so I got credit sent refs and WHOOPEEEEE .....
Exact date of birth and unknown parents as the son who reg the death didnt have the info.
Same job as older brother Henry !

No ages, I guess, on the Oz ER. Oh, but "Ebenezer" is where they were born. Or is it where they're living? Still figuring that out ... Ebenezer is in SA, the marriage in NSW must have been a second ...


I just did a search of phone books at Ancestry. You can't search them by address w/o surname ... but you can if you say the surname was %$#@. Seriously.

I got a few on Elgar Rd 1920-1940, but only a few and no 99.

Searching the other way, 99 but not Elgar -- because the scans of these things are horrific -- got nothing.

Now aren't you supposed to trot yourself off to the Reading library or whatever and look up electoral rolls??

He did,in 1934 aged 20,correct age,born 1913,lied on his 2nd marriage though and knocked a few spots off his age.

A Google came up with Ancestry results for Allan Aubrey Noble on NSW electoral rolls, 1936-1954. I can't view 'em.

That would be bang on about the right age -- and unfortunately born after 1909 so can't check NSW birth records.

Neither he nor she appears to have died there by 1979.

I think I'm insulted. ;) Of course, merely being associated with those reprobates would do that!

I've checked Home Children to Canada (including by first name only), no joy. Australia is a tougher nut, no central records of Home Children arrivals that I know of (FMP outgoings would be the only source I think), and of course BMDs are state by state, as Canada is province by province, and similarly only half or so have records on line, and privacy laws would cover almost anything relevant (except possibly a death) anyway.

Since there is nothing found for Aubrey Noble marriage,death I wonder if he became a home child and sent to Australia,Canada or elsewhere.

Of course he could have been informally adopted and had a name change
