Not a bad bit of commission that they're getting there is it?! Disgraceful really. |

As per my posts on here earlier, you really cannot get a better service than with the relevant Register Office where possible. I quite often find that a phone chat with them can give you quite a bit of information. Some of them are local Historians as well. |

Perhaps we should all write to Ancestry complaining that newbies will be unaware they can buy the certs for only £7. |

As you can see I am overseas, I'm not about to phone long distance to a registry office at some ungodly hour (for me) of the morning!! |

but as Sylvia said, not all registry offices will provide certificates so you have to check first. |

i am fairly new at this, but i was lucky enough to have 3 death certificates to pick up only about 10 miles from where i live, the staff were most helpful when i phoned and told me once i had filled in the forms to go off shopping and they would ring me on my mobile once the certificates were ready which they did, they knew that i wanted them for the family tree, so i am quite alarmed to read that some offices wont supply them for this. i have obviously been lucky so far, but it is good to have a warning that this might happen. thanks |
