Hi Mike
Thank you for looking for John Sutton for me. I had seen the marriage, its the birth I'm stuck on. I think its very confusing abut Oakthorpe and Donisthorpe. I'll have to see if anybody is going to look at Derbyshire records office which i in Matlock, bit too far to go at the moment.
Merry Christmas to you.

Hello Mike Thank you so much for your update, now………..
I reckon Frances Sanby was born c1766 going by her death records. I have found the births of John (1803) and Joseph (1807) in Barrowden form the IGI records.
I have guessed Robert Sanby’s birth at 1760, if you remember he is Samuel’s father and Frances’ brother. Samuel had a brother James who was born 1792 in Barrowden.
I can find no marriage for Robert and Frances (unknown) on the IGI records. A kind member on this site looked at the Spalding, Lincolnshire registers for me but nothing came up.
So I would be really grateful if you could try and look for Robert and Frances’ births and Roberts’s marriage (hopefully) in Barrowden. Should any other Sanbys crop up I will be thrilled!!!!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY PEACEFUL NEW YEAR to everyone.
Look forward to continuing this in 2009!

Fiche No' DE 2021. / 3. Page 40. Entry No’ 161.
Reads thus :~
Daniel Sewell. Of this Parish. Frances SANBEE of the said same Parish. Married in this Church

Daniel signed by own signature.
Frances SANBY (spelling corrected by Parish Clark ) By her Mark = X

I’ll need to think about what years I have to trawl the Registers for Frances’s Baptism in Barrowden ?
Having another look at the Will ( Yes I still have it )
John Sewell came from Laxton Northamptonshire Joseph Sewell came from Quoating Lincolnshire …. So they might not be on the Baptism registers ……
This due to to the trawl will have to be in the new year now.....Sorry.

Hello Mike Great to see you are back, we missed you!
I am very excited because I have made some progress with my Sanby family but would really appreciate your help to check my findings. Remember Samuel Sanby’s will that you deciphered for me? Well I have found out that the executors John and Joseph Sewell were his cousins. Their mother was Frances Sanby (Sanbee) and she married Daniel Sewell 15/10/1797 in Barrowden, Rutland. I got this from IGI records but would like you to check it for me please to know the church they were married in.
If Frances was married in Barrowden maybe she was born there and maybe Samuel’s father Robert was born or married there? I would be so grateful if you could look at the registers for any sign of the Sanby family for me. This family seem to travel from Rutland to Lincolnshire on a regular basis and trying to keep track to them is challenging!!!
Hope you are well and thank you as always for your time.

HI Mike
I don't think you will be able to helpme as it seems Oakthorpe and Donisthorpe comes under Derbyshire when they are in Leicestershire! A website suggests looking under Measham, Ashby, Stretton, Church Gresley and Netherseal. So, it looks like there wasn't a chirch in Oak. or Don. until 1838. Actually, do any of these parishes come under Leicestershire? maybe Ashby.
Regards tracey
