Nicky.its a bit tricky!! but sending for the marriage cert may be the only way........Lancs BMD allow you to download an appication from by clicking on the reg.number on the right of the entry...and that form includes the place to send it and your £7.00 fee... Unfortunately i only have marriage records in Duffield and derby till 1812
Lety me know how you get on

Hi Derek..... Thanks for your help, Yes I already have the census info for him and wife and family, am really just trying to see if he fits in with my family and is one of my Furniss clan or not, his baptism records seems to me the only way to be sure of his parentage. I am also having difficulty finding his marriage record...... there is a marriage for a Frederick Furniss to Mary Barnes in 1840 in Prestwich Lancs., {Lancs BMD}, though feel that with all those middle names they would probably have been used, and he wouldn`t have called himself just plain old Frederick, so not sure its him..... also according to the census 1st child seems to be Jane born c1844........quite a long time after the marriage is this were to be him. Have found his death registry in 1899 Birkenhead and he is registered as Frederick Thomas S Furniss, so am keeping an open mind on it all.... I may order the 1840 marriage cert.with a ref. check of John as father and see if they send it or not.

Thanks for your help
Nicky

Hi nicky, all I can do at the moment is confirm that FTS Furniss was born 1818 Derby..I don'tr have the Derby City parish records, but I can go hunting.
I can tell you that by 1861 through to 1881 he was living in Tranmere lancashire with his wife mary and children.
I'll keep looking

Hi Derek...... thanks for your kind offer. I wonder if you would be able to look up a baptism record for

Frederick Thomas Strong Furniss..... born 1818 Derby Derbyshire, .

If I have the correct person ,he should be the eldest child of John and Elizabeth { nee Strong} Furniss who married in Duffield in 1817 {IGI info} baptism may be in Duffield, though I have found other possible siblings baptised at St Werburghs and St Alkmund Derby between 1821 and 1832..... {IGI again}, these latter ones are definetly my relations and am trying to see if Frederick T S is also from the same family.

Thanks in advance for anything you may be able to find.

Nicky

Hi jayne.....do you by any chance have his parents??? Looks like he was born just after the 1901 census was taken..which makes it difficult!!

Hi Meercat,

Just checked, I already have that birth certificate, it's not her, the parents are different. :-(

I have bought several birth certificates over the years, allowing quite a big +/- from 1862, and also with spelling variations of Colledge, but nothing. I do have Emma's marriage certificate which gave me her fathers name but have never been able to find this blooming family! I do appreciate you taking the time to look for me.

Best Wishes,

Julie

I'll PM this to you too.

Hi Derek

I think I may have asked you this before but can you have a look for the death of George Tattersall, I think he died sometime between 1829 and 1844, he was born abt. 1793 in Chesterfield.
Also his widow Mary who married Abel Holmes in 1846 in Ashover, she was born abt.1800.

Thank you

Regards

Kathleen

Hey Derek,

Not sure if you saw my earlier post on this thread re Emma Colledge, or if it was just too vague a request?. Either way I certainly appreciate all time and effort this takes, it's very kind of you.

Sincere Best Wishes,

Hi Derek,

Thanks for the clarification. I will therefore assume that Ann Palfreyman of Tideswell was the correct Ann.
