Derek, Ellen was born in 1805 though. I think there is an earlier marriage of a William Nightingale to a Mary Timpany, that is a member entered one on the IGI.

Hi Mary...Just had a quick look ,,more later hopefully..There are three separate Thomas and Ann Hudson entries in the bakewell register....two of them are too early but i do have children that don't match up to your information.and aince the Baptisma end at 1841 there is no John b 1844.
I give you these names simply as children of any old thomas and Ann Hudson in this period..Make of them what you may:
Ann 25.05.1822
Elizabeth 26.06.1824
Sylvia 26.08.1831
Thomas 01.06.1834
Ellen 05.03.1837

But what I DO have is the burial of THOMAS HUDSON 11.12.1870 aged 78 (exact match!) and ANN HUDSON 15.12.1862 aged 65....looks likely also.depending on what you know of the year she was born.

Have found Heath... and have found Sutton cum Duckmanton the birthplaces of yoru two....but I do not as yet have the Parish Registers for them...I'll have a look around....

Hope this is of some use as a preliminary

Ann (in Glos)! The William and Mary marriage i have is for 1831....and there are only two children..so perhaps he did marry again later in life???

Hi Julia.....first..Whittlesey is very cloe to peterborough so may not have parish registers of its own
I don't have any links with cambridgeshire....and i started in much the same way as someone has to to acquire the sorts of records i have for derbyshire. much of which is hard cash to purchase CD's of Registers........
I think the first thing anyone must do is see exactly what transcribed records are available on CD..or put a thread on Records Office asking for anyone has any....
I'll have a search on Genuki cambridgeshire for you.
More later

Hi Derek I have a Thomas Hudson born 1792 in Sutton on the 1841 census he has a wife Ann(born in Heath) and 3 children Thomas, Sylvia both aged 5 and Shea? aged 4 they are living in Bakewell. On the 1851 census he has a son John born 1844. Any info on them would be great

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 22 Oct 2008 17:52

thank you Derek. There was a Helen born to William and Elizabeth Nightingale My cousin many years ago gave me a copy of the baptismal records that this is on. I think it is 29 December but would you believe, no place and no year. But the IGI gives 29 December 1805 Belper which ties in with my Ellen's dob in later censuses. However this is an entry by a member with no batch number.

I have a 'gut' feeling that Either Elizabeth died and William then married a Mary, or Elizabeth was also known as Mary.

At no time in any census, work house records, later marriage certificate or death certificate is Ellen ever known as Helen although I know the names are interchangeable. if you ever do go to Matlock and can follow this up for me I would be really grateful. thank you.

Derek, you get brilliant results for people on here with Derbyshire queries. But, and I am saying this in the spirit of joviality, do you have a counter-part who does Whittlesey, Cambs, or have you any suggestions. As you might gather, I am at desparation point, brick wall, don't know where to turn from here, and any other euphenisms, you can thinks of.

Hi Derek what a wonderful offer

I have a brickwall for you if possible.

I have a Richard Turner, I think about 1777 married to Phoebe there is a marriage in 1792 in Staveley of Richard (Ridgeway) to Phoebe Garfit (Staveley)
All the children were born in Ridgeway (apart from the 1st 2 they are confirmed on the Ridgeway Parish Records. ) I believe that my Richard came from Ridgeway but I can't find a birth for him anywhere, nor can I find Phoebe.

Can you help ?

Thanks
Uzzi

John furniss bc1797 was my gr gr grandfather, on his son Charles marriage cert. in 1848 he is a Commercial Traveller, {presumably how they got from Derbyshire to Lancashire} they are on the census in 1841 in West derby Lancashire, after that I have no definite findings of John or Elizabeth. I`m hoping that Frederick Thomas Strong Furniss is john and Elizabeths eldest child, and Charles elder brother which is why I`m trying to track down fredericks marriage cert. to hopefully find John Furniss as father.
