Thanks, Derek, that's very kind of you.

The Joseph who married Grace was baptised at Sawley and Long Eaton on 3 April 1738, so he would have been very young to marry in 1753, but of course I don't know his exact year of birth.

In view of the age, I think the Joseph who married Elizabeth Elson is probably another person, but I wanted to rule out this one if possible. The last child of Joseph and Elizabeth that I know of was born in 1768, and Joseph and Grace were married in 1776.

I haven't found a burial for Elizabeth on FHOL.

There's no rush - just whenever you have time.

Hi mary..have found the second marriage...but there is no age or mariatl status. This is from the Phillimore Derbyshire marriages....I'd need the Sawley or West hallam Parish Records to find Birth etc, which I don't have......another one on my list for matlock records office!!
Bear with me.

Hi Derek,

Can I bother you again with my Parkinsons?

You gave me the following marriage:

Sawley
27/10/1753 Joseph Parkinson m. Elizabeth Elson

I also have this one:

West Hallam
25/12/1776 Joseph Parkinson of Sawley m. Grace Trueman

and I'm trying to work out if it's the same Joseph who married twice, or two different ones.

If you happen to have the West Hallam records, could you check to see if it gives his age and marital status?

Thanks a lot,
Mary

Hi Derek, You have done brilliantly with my Hudsons and Tallents so wondered if you could find a baptism for Hannah Sale/Seel born about 1793 in Horseywood House

Derek Report 4 Dec 2008 15:20

Hi Gill.would be handy if you gave me the right information with which to work!!!!!!!!!!
Robert Dale was not from Shelton.which is in Notts and any number of other places to attach a herring coloured red to!!
He was.like his wife..born in Stoke on Trent..in one of the six towns that collectively are called the Potteries....one of them is Hanley..where Eliza came from..and another is FENTON from which Robert came.........I went to Keele university which is just up the road........
Anyway, with a considerable degree of utter brilliance i have ascertained the following:-
(anyone who deosn't know me reading this would think "what an arrogant little shit") lol

Robert Dale was born Fenton 1856 son of Geroge and Amy..he had three siblings.....by 1881 he is living with his mother who is now Amy Lloyd having remarried to one Isaac Lloyd

By 1891 Robert has married Eliza Ellen Wilson (parents Frances and phoebe b1826) and has fathered four children:
Phoebe Ellen Dale 1884
Clara Amy Dale 1885
Francis J Dale 1886
Thomas Dale 1890

In 1901 they are all still together in Hanley Stoke-0n-Trent

Now I'm knackered!!

fudge1 Report 4 Dec 2008 13:57

Hi Derek, terrible pangs of guilt today, just been browsing my tree, now up untill my fathers funeral in July i had grown up believing Thomas and Phoebe(charles brother)to be my ggrandparents, was so lucky to know them and spend hours playing chess with him in the parlour and helping Phoebe baking and.enjoying tales of convict camps and leprosy colony.s in India etc. Then when i found out about Charles my attention went onto him,now feeling awful that i've left them by the wayside. So is there any chance you can find family of Phoebe, she was born in Hanley, father was Robert Dale1856,Shelton,wife Eliza ?, help me feel a bit better about this Derek! p.s they actually brought my mother up as my nan had the chance to remarry but new hubby didn,t want my mother around, thats how nice they were! They not only bought Charles daughter up when he died but they also bought his granddaughter up too! such special people.gill
