Hi Michael..whilst i am unable to help you with your 1925 query, I do have some intersting info on her parents......at least I assume hey are her parents:

Haughton Benson was born in Barrow in Furness in c1875..in what was then Lancashire and is now Cumbria

He married Mary Jane about 1896. Mary Jane was born nantwich Cheshire 1873..and they married..possibly at Lytham St Annes about 1896, where their first child FLORA C BENSON was born 1897

In 1891 they are living at 120 Walpole Street Peterborough..and haughton is a Baker.

I can gurantee the information about this family..but is it the same family???

Good Morning Derek, Thanks for your offer. This is what I have, and where I have become stuck.

Joseph Hall Born 18//02/1852 To Joseph Hall and Hannah Hall formerly Wood. District Hayfield and Glossop.......Per birth cert.

In the 1841 Census I have found Joseph (the father) age 15 Born c1826. High Peak, Glossop. The mother on that census is called Grace, born c 1796 On the IGI she is shown as being married to Robert c1790-1800.

I can't find a Marriage between Joseph and Hannah............lots listed with those names but no Hannah with the name Wood. I was hoping to pick up details of his father from the marriage to confirm the IGI information.

If there were a CD of records for the area I was then hoping to go further back.

I hope all the above is clear. I confuse myself at times, and it is difficult to give facts without rambling on. Anyway, if you can help I will be very grateful. so over to you. :-)

Hi Derek, Mad meg told me about you. Thinks you will be able to help. I am trying to trace back pre 1837 my family in the Hayfield, Chapple en le Frith areas.

I have been to the Mormon family history centre and their records did not really help a lot. What I hope you can help me with is this: Are there any CDs on the market that cover this area. I was thinking of Bishops transcripts and church records. I'm not even sure what parish I need to be looking at. Have you any advice for me.

Look foreard to hearing from you,

Joan

Thanks Derek. You had already given me the children of John and Judith. I don't think I need any more info on them going forwards.

Re Henry Sleigh and Mary Naden, there is another Henry Sleigh b 1717 married to Elizabeth Critchlow (according to another Genes member)., with 8 children. I did toy with him having married twice - Mary second - but some of his children with Elizabeth were born after he married Mary, so it's a different fella.

Good morning Margaret........

OK;....HENRY SLEIGH married MARY NADEN 20.12.1751

I'm trying to get back before these two, but unless henry was 37 when he married and Mary was only 14..I've got to look further.

Henry and Mary had three children:

JOSEPH 19.01.1754
JOHN 10.02.1757
JUDITH 06.10.1762 (married John Twigg 29.06.1785)

Joseph married MARY SKIDMORE 21.09.1778 and had two children:

ELIZABETH 08.11.1778
ANN 04.06.1780

Joseph died 16.06.1781, and mary Skidmore doed a Pauper 06.06.1792

Mary Naden died 22.12.1775..and Henry starved to death out on the moors 13.01.1793.

You might think I've mixed the two Mary's up, but Mary died 1775 is listed as "wife of Henry".

In case you haven't got them, the children of JOHN TWIGG and JUDITH SLEIGH were as follows:

Samuel 18.02.1787
William 30.08.1789
Mary 08.07.1792 (died 07.03.1793)
Elizabeth 07.01.1797
Joseph 23.11.1800
Mary 14.01.1803
Benjamin 27.10.1805

Depending on how far you want to go..I do have the next generation of some of these children

More later
