I was particularly interested in this twig despite not being blood related. In case you are interested,Emily married a miner(surprise) and ended up living in Bolsover.

As far as I can see she was childless,so that is the end of that twig.

Hello Nina.I forgot to give you the parents of Ann...Agar (Agur) and Deborah.

Have since confirmed the marriage of AGAR SIDDALL to DEBORAH YOUNG at Eyam 05.11.1821.clealry the single L at the end of Ann's Baptism record is arbitrary..because I have found two other children with the correct spelling..

Full list therefore is:

Sarah 14.04.1822..which by my reckoning means that Agar and debs were being very naughty before they got married!!! lol
Ann 03.06.1824
Henry 25.11.1827
John 20.10.1833

Just for your records DEBORAH YOUNG bpat Eyam 12.01.1794 one of six children of William and Sarah Young.

So now you know who Ann Siddall was!!

Hi Derek,good news,I recieved Ann and William's marriage cert this morning,and it is the correct one.
They wed June 1854 in Sheffield ,his father William Unwin and hers Agar Siddall.

I also found her and her brothers Baptism records on family search.

The strange thing is that I havn't found her, either with her husband,or her birth family on any records,although her parents are on census records living in Eyam,Father Agar,mother Deborah both b about 1795.

The plot thickens,I will be busy searching over xmas. Once again,love to you and your family.Nina.xxxxxx

Hi Diane...........Making up names to appear proper is not new.....when i first started my Family Search, i was stymied for a long while by my mothers maiden name and the name of her "father" on her Marriage Certificate. I spent AGES!! searching for this fictitious person..who was also noted as "deceased"..then I realised mother never married and the surname "Gregson" was not her married name but her maiden name......and my mother had made the whole thing up!!

In the absence of any other information it may be that your case is the same. Whenever i see "deceased" in that situation the alarm bells ring!!

Hello Nina.....just realised that although I have the Eyam parish Registers..the births only go as far as 1841..although marriages and deaths go to 1860 and 1867 respectively. No wonder i can't find Ann's baby!

Thanks Derek, yes, that is the right death for Ann,I have her death cert.

I found a marriage record of William Unwin to Ann Siddall in Sheffield.It makes sense because they were connected to my Blackwell family,some of whom moved to Sheffield,presumably to find work.

She could have returned home to Eyam to have her baby,who was born in Eyam,and Ann died nine days later. Part of my Blackwell family took the baby in and she stayed until she married.

Now you have found Ann's family I will know whether the cert is the correct one when it arrives. Thank you again,Nina

Hi Derek, re Gerrards of Bradbourne area. Sorry, just couldn't wait - received the marriage certificates and was eager to open them. Great Christmas present!

Re Samuel Gerrard and Sarah Ensor. They were married Aug 5, 1850, in the Parish Church, with witnesses John Taylor and Mary Ensor. Sarah signed with an "x". Interestingly enough, Samuel's residence at the time of marriage was Hartington. His father is indeed Joseph Gerrard, miller. as per my earlier post, in the just resurrected family bible, his death date is noted as 26 Mar 1887. Great that at this time of year, we've added a Joseph to your Mary!!!

Re Wilfred Gerrard and his "unknown" father. When Wilfred (21) married Alice (21) on Nov 28, 1903, in Church Broughton, the father of Wilfred is noted as John Gerrard, deceased. Wonder if this was a “made up” father for appearances sake, or did she actually marry, or have a very long affair with a cousin. This all happens between censuses, so is very difficult to find anything.

Hello Nina...........ANN SIDDAL.one L.was baptised Eyam 03.06.1824..had a brother HENRY baptised 25.11.1827

ANN UNWIN buried Eyam 27.08.1862 aged 38..........can't find any marriage at this stage..but if she married in Sheffield what is she doing back in Eyam????? There is a burial for one WILLIAM UNWIN 15.07.1857 (of Bakewell) buried at Eyam.aged 69........probably not of any use to you,but I add it for information only......

Hi Derek,Nina again,this morning I recieved the death cert of Ann Unwin nee Siddall aged 38 in 1862,Eyam,husband William Unwin.

I still can't find them on the census,I think that I found their wedding,in Sheffield in the mid fifties,but that hasn't arrived yet.

The only useful info there is her age I suppose,but I know that you can do miracles.

Just out of interest do you have any records for Netherseal area? Interested in Copestakes. I think i remember you mentioning not having records for this area but I may have remembered incorrectly so pose the question anyway.

Hi Derek,I am awaiting a death and marriage cert for the mother of Emily Unwin,but if you want to fill the odd hour could you help?

!871 census Emily is listed as Adopted child, aged 8 living in Eyam with George and Sara Blackwell.,

By the 1881 census she has adopted the Blackwell name.I know what happened to her from then on,But can't trace her parents.
On her birth cert they are William Unwin,lead miner of Eyam,and Ann Unwin nee Siddall.
One would presume that if they wed that they would be together on the 1771 census but I can't find them..I have found a record of two people of those names marrying in Sheffield,which would make sense as some of my Blackwells had moved there by then.Also a death of Ann Unwin in 1862,and these are the two that are ordered.

So there is the puzzle,which William Unwin was he? and who was Ann Siddall

Please only have a look if you are desparate for something to do,and have a lovely xmas xxxxxx

I saw your initial enquiry on your thread..in which you say Abraham born Bakewell 1760..on your PM you say 1740

In fact he was not baptised at Bakewell..and i have yet to find him..he's not on IGI either unless he came from lancashire.
But he DID marry at Bakewell....16.10. 1759 to MARTHA ALLIN

They had ONE child at Bakewell..JONATHAN 14.09.1760..who went on the marry MARY BENNET 26.01.1784 at Bakewell..but there were no children..at least not at Bakewell.

Still looking elsewhere......

Just noticed a post from Nina on the Blackwells. I've done quite a bit of research on them as Sarah Ann Gerrard from my tree married Samuel Blackwell b 1850 in 1892. (3 children) He was previously married to Hannah, with 3 children. Let me know if you need any of that research.

Hi Derek, many thanks for your kind words. I'm back now to my searching. Sorry, this is a long one. Thank you for the mother of Samuel, Mary, piece of information. Have done a bit of research on that one. Coincidentally enough, while away, I received a hand written note from my uncle in England who sussed out his family bible.

He has written from the top down, Joseph Gerrard, died 26 Mar 1887, then under that, Samuel Gerrard, b June 1867. Then under that, Wilfred Gerrard died 29 Mar 1914. Now we know that there was a father of Wilfred, who isn't Samuel, obviously they didn't want to put that piece of info in the family bible, but I thought the mention of Joseph may be something you could use. I've tried his death date, but nothing concrete comes up on Ancestry.

Haven't received the paperwork on the marriages yet from England.
