There are a couple of births for a Charles Bassett and a Harold Bassett in Lancashire at the right times, but that wouldn't fit with the place of birth given on the 1901 census (which was Notting Hill). |

It looks as if Alfred is his father and Alfred's wife is transcribed as Maud but looking at the census image I think it might actually be Maria. |
