How do you actually use IGI Batch Numbers?

Each batch number refers to one parish register (or sometimes a small group of successive registers), and usually covers either births or marriages for one parish for a specific time period. |

On a normal Batch for extracted records you can even bring up the entire batch by leaving the name empty. The results come up alphabetically so if you think a name may be spelled strangely you can hunt for all possible variants. The IGI will bring up variants but sometimes the mistranscription is so weird it helps to see the lot. |

This seems to be a speciality batch number.It has no source but appears to be all the births in Ireland for 1877.Or at least quite a few! |
