Not sure about Army camps, though I expect Mike will know. However, the camp may not actually have been in Leicester.
My parents met during WWII; my mum was from Leicester and my dad from Australia, but they met at a dance in Lichfield, Staffs while he was posted to an airfield in Lincs and she was visiting relatives in Lichfield.

Hi Mike,
Could you look for a marriage in Lubenham for me if you have it on your discs?
I'm interested in the marriage of Thomas Berry and a Hannah; don't know when, but their first child that I'm aware of was born in Lubenham in 1723.
Lubenham baptisms are on the IGI, but marriages don't seem to be.
Thanks a lot, Mary

*** F.A.O. *** Mary O’ Italy…..
No luck with my Discs ....... I think that the answer to that would only be gained by viewing Parish Registers for Lubenham at the Records Office ……….
*** F.A.O. *** Paul ……..
The only CAMP ( Pitched tents ) I can think of was on Braunstone Park
82nd Air born Div. U.S.A. Forces…….
But Barracks were dotted around the City and on the out shirts Usually at………… TA. Centres Glen Parva………. Royal Leicester Reg. ( Tigers )
Do you have a copy of the marriage that could give you your Father's address & service No' ....

Thanks for trying, Mike - don't worry about looking at the Records Office, because it'll take you too long as I don't know the date, and I'm not even sure that the marriage actually took place in Lubenham - I'm just guessing because that was where the children were born.

I think some soldiers were billeted with local families as opposed to living in barracks, weren't they, Mike?
I know my mum's family had somebody billeted with them.

Hi Elaine,
Tks for making contact. I would to be in touch with anyone who may help. Is there another way other than thru this thread. I am not really sure how all this works. I have listed my Thomas Noon as part of my tree. Does the entry for the 1835 marriage mentioned any other details, eg birth place of either or may be fathers names ??
Tks again Karen of Brisbane

Hi Mike. I have what maybe a puzzle.
My son in laws Grandparents were, James Astley and Doris May nee Truslove. I found birth of James in 1901 Doris May in 1902. 7a163 J/A/S 1902 I have found their marriage in 1923. James was an only Child, He and Doris only had one son Dennis Hardwicke Astley.
I have done a bit of research to try and trace the latter name of Hardwicke. I found in the Truslove Births a Harold Hardwick without the E in 1903.
Is it possible for you to find out more for me on this family I have tried looking for gr gr parents ect in 1841/1891. I do not know how to look further without detail, can you help thanks Marian

Greeting’s….. Marian.
In order for me to attempt to go back in time with the Astley /Truslove Families
I will need the CHRISTIAN names for both Parents of James & Doris May. ( if you already know James was an only child then I believe you might have the names ? )
There are several of these Families dotted about both in the City & County on the 1901. Census returns.

Hi mike. I am sorry this is the thing I am unable to find out. I go into fmp for info this does not yet have 1901. I went through quite a lot Friday and some at weekend. the truslove seem connected to Kirby, Fisher,Dyer,Ballard, and couple I found name of Orme. These were all Maiden names. My son in law was born late in his parents lives so knows bvery little of relations His Mum is 82 so possiby would not remember. It`s a tricky one with an only child.the only thing now would be certificates which are expensive, as I bought a lot family for my own. also the Lightfoot family. Iwill ask further to see if I can get more info
This is a further bit of info, re my Chelsea Pensioner. My son in law said, my relative would have bought his comission, as very few if any, at that time, went through the ranks. He himself has just finished 23 years in forces. Bye Marian

Greeting’s again Marion…..
I understand the need to cut down on expenses Therefore why not order just the Marriage Certificate for James & Doris At lest this will give you the Father’s names of both parties… and save sticking a pin in the names which are displayed on the 1901.Census.......and guessing . :0/
