Are you 100% certain that both marriage certs refer to the same woman? |
|||
|
Carol | Report | 18 Mar 2008 15:28 |
I did wonder that Reggie, but at the top of the cert it gives the surname as Catherine Sloan, ( which is what i entered) although she signed it Burns (Her mothers ms) which she used quite a lot, just to confuse me! |

That 1890 marriage isn't on Free BMD no matter what name I use for her. |

Matter of fact, I can't find the first marriage on Free BMD, either. |

Have you looked for her birth under her mother's name? I'm sure you have but just in case ... |

I've tried Burns, Briggs, Burns-Briggs, Briggs-Burns! and nothing on any of them which is why i think there maybe another surname lurking somewhere. |

Scottish birth certificates didn't start till 1855. You will need to look for the Online parish records at Scotlandspeople website. |

Oh - sorry Carol - I feel like I've jinxed it for you! Didn't mean to. Have no idea how the Scottish system works. |

Dont worry Jill, there was a lot of people movement in Scotland in the 1800s and a lot of boundary changes, it's interest but confusing! |
