Thomas Brewerton is baffling my boyfriends family! Thomas Brewerton was born in September 1886 (we think around the 13th) in or around the Bradford area. But there seems to be no record of his birth. I have tried searching Brewerton and I have also tried searching under Hesling which is his mother maiden. We believe his parents are Henry Brewerton (Thomas put down Henry Brewerton on his marriage cert) and Emma Hesling. We know that Henry died when Thomas was quite young and the age of 15 Thomas went to York / Tadcaster area because he mother remarried and didn't want to know her children.

If anyone can help that would be great.

He was not in the army. His son and my boyfriend was in the army but he was not! Thanks for though

Are you sure he wasn't in the army in WW1? There is record for a Thomas Brewerton on Ancestry - married Annie Lazenby; children Florence Mary and Thomas.

Are these his parents in 1891 only Thomas isn't there. Could he perhaps lied about his age at sometime or even forgot it.

I found the same one as Potty, address was Golden Lion Yard, Nr Bridge St Tadcaster

Where did you get his DOB from and how do you know his MMN if you don't have the cert?

I cannot find the one in WW1 record on any census.

This is going to get confusing. He may have been.

My boyfriend grandfather was called Thomas and his great grandfather was called Thomas and his great grandfather died in 1939. So he must have been. Right, up until now my boyfriend never said that his great grandfather was in WW1. His grandfather was in Burma in WW2.

He signed up 5/4/1917 age 31 years & 7 months

MMN=Mother's maiden name

He was a brewer's labourer

5 foot 2 3/4 with 36" chest

Served in France
Got the British War Medal & Victory Medal

It actually says born in 1886

I like how Ancestry had his height hummmm. But I am taken that the date his enlisted is actually true!

MMN - Brewerton was (and still is) a very rare name and as Thomas named Henry as his father on his marriage certificate we ordered Henry's marriage certificate and we also contacted onther Brewerton who seemed to confirm this.

Have you got him on any census as I can't find him but have found what looks like the family I found in 1891 now in 1901 still no Thomas.
