Hi everyone,
We wanted to let you know in advance about some changes we will be making on Monday morning. The most noticeable changes will be to our records and the way you can search them. As we have added (and plan to add more) records to the site, we have a need for a new, more efficient and more sophisticated database of records. The records have now been categorised and grouped in ways we hope will be clear and easy to use, the results you get should be more accurate, and the searches performed should be faster. This has also enabled us to make new records available including Will & Probate records dating from 1717-1932, and also a Divorce Index dating from 1858 – 1903.
The search and search results pages will look different, and if you have any trouble using them please do not hesitate to contact [email protected]. We would also love to hear your feedback, good or bad. Please send any suggestions regarding the new search to [email protected]
Other changes we have made include an updated splash page (this is the page you see if you are logged out and go to www.genesreunited.co.uk) and some new informative pages about how to look for living relatives.
We have also created an eBook which you will be able to download for free. It is designed for beginners and experts alike with lots of tips and advice for anyone who is looking for ancestors or living relatives. – We will post a link to the eBook as soon as it is available on Monday.
Finally, we are also launching our brand new Genes Extras page. This is our way of saying thank you to our loyal subscribers. We have hand-picked some exclusive offers for you. This month we are launching with Who Do You Think You Are magazine, From You to Me and Naked Wines. And we have a fantastic competition prize - you can be in with a chance to win a year’s supply of books from Penguin!
We should not experience site interruptions during this release, but if we do, rest assured we will be working to get the site back up as quickly as possible.
Thanks
The Genes Team
