Information on Grandfather Patrick White (cork)

Hi

I am trying to find more information on my Grandfather Patrick Whyte he lived in Cork.

He was married to Norah(nora) Cottor of Johnstown, Kilmichaelmacroom, Cork, who lived at Maulathanavalla, Rosscarberry, Cork, as she was previously married to Patrick Coakley who died. She had another 2 children with P White(1930), Mary and Kathleen(Kitty,1931, my mother).

We have just found out that Patrick White was a Policeman and had alot of medals for bravery etc, we think he died in 1931/2, but not sure.

we think he was in the Royal Irish Constabulary and I believe that they never served in the county they were from, so he either was from a different area or when they disbanded in 1922, maybe he moved back to cork as my mother is sure he was from west cork, but we have very limited information.

If anyone could help me to find any information out, or how to find more info out on ex policemen(the Royal Irish Constabulary) in ireland etc, I would be very grateful.
