Hello All,
I'm left with a puzzle that I have been unable to resolve.

John Nathaniel Wells, born in Reading, Berkshire, England in 1838. He was the son of Rev John Tighe Wells and Ellen Margaret Wells (nee Bayford).
The 1841 UK census shows him with his family at St Andrew The Less, Cambridgeshire, England.

The next time I come across him is in a notice in the "Gentleman's Magazine" saying that while sailing from Nelson , New Zealand to Sydney, Australia he and his boat disappears.

I can find no record of where he was between 1841 and the time of his reported death in 1856 or how he ended up in New Zealand or Australia?

Can anyone spot something that I have missed.
Many thanks
Paul
