Find Ancestors

i sent for my grandfathers birth certificate, when it came it said that his father's name was Edgar walter king 1893 and mother Esther king nee waller, 1891 i have found every thing for walter king and ester king, but i cannot find anything for Edgar at all i have searched everywhere, he dosent exist, and the birth of walter king dosent match the 1901 census says he was born in peckham, camberwell, london, yet i cannot find a birth there, please can some one help ? they lived at 26, Daniels rd peckham,

He may just have used the name Walter.

I don't see a Walter King on 1901 census born Peckham, Camberwell only this one in Clerkenwell.

That one doesn't seem to be showing on Ancestry, did you find it on GR? What are his parents names?

hi thank you for your reply, the name of the certificate is Thomas Henry King, or Thomas H King, born 13.2.1915, at 26 Daniels Rd, Peckham,camberwell,london. mother Esther King(waller) esther was born 1891 and died aged 28 years, they also had William in 1913 and Rose in 1918 just befor she died, my gt grandfather remarried to a Lydia in 1920 when they had Frederick in 1920 in camberwell,london, i am sorry for not replying sooner but this old computer is really up the wall

The address in 1915 is probably irrelevant.

The parents would almost certainly have established their own home when they married.

Have you got the cert for either of Thomas's father's marriages?

If not, it would be advisable to get one of them, to establish a birth year for him, and to find out the name and occupation of his father.

this was the address on his brother cert to in 1913 so i took it to be there family home

Yes, it was their family home, but they were a 'new' family................the previous generation would have had their own home.

When I married, I set up my own home - I didn't live with my parents...............

At the moment, Kelly, as far as I can tell, you have no real idea of when and where Walter was born.

You need to establish that before looking for census info..............

So, Walter was born on, or after, 5th August 1892...................which would fit the census info posted for 1901, although, as yet, you don't actually know, 100%, where he was born.............

I've had a look at 1911 census.

It's odd...........

There is a Thomas King, aged 18, Greengrocer, living in Camberwell, but no record of a Walter fitting the info you have..............

Unfortunately, there is no way of finding where he was born, or who else is in the household without purchasing units...............

i have loads of credits would i be able to do this ?
