Thanks Ann

I searched IGI and found nothing!

1866 must have been a tough year, not famine though, some other social disaster perhaps.

I wonder if George 1832 is called something else on the records.

there is a website called Emerald Ancestors but I have never used that - suggest you edit your heading to include the word "Ireland" as a member called Erin........ is pie hot on Irish records - she might spot this if you change the heading

Simon....What other info do you have..Is the year and Place of Birth from Primary source material....How do you know he married Eliz.Carthy...?

I would suggest the surname was originally Husband/Husbands and this was found mainly in the Co'Kerry and Cork...with some in Fermanagh and Dublin....
There were also "McHusbands"
The same applies with the Carthy surname..McCarthy /Carthy/Carty.

Did any of the family stay in Ireland ?

The earliest Husband I have located..(and the only one so far) for the Co Kildare was an Elizabeth Husband who died in 1736.

Hi Erin

Many thanks for looking by.

My great maternal grandmother was Norah Husband. She was the daughter of Patrick Usband (could be Husband)

On 1881 Census on Family Search down as Patrick Usband, age 25 yrs, b Kildare Ireland, occupation Labourer, living with Wife Catherine, age 25 yrs and Son Cornelius age 1 yr.
Living at 59, Franchise St Pendleton in Salford Lancs England.
On 1891 not found
On 1901 Census age 45 yrs living with Wife Catherine & family (5 Sons & 3 Daughters including Norah) at 40 Chaney St Pendleton Salford.

I believe Catherines maiden name to be Forde.
Marriage
09/11/1875 at the Church of St John the Evangelist White Cross Bank Salford.
Patrick age 21 yrs Bachelor Foundry Labourer
9 Artillery St Salford Father George Usbands Occupation Nail Maker.
Catherine age 19 yrs Spinster Factory Operative
9 Artillery St Salford Father John Forde (deceased) Occupation Labourer
Witnesses William Grace & Catherine Usbands

So use of Usbands on this document to,
Patrick and Catherine both from Kildare.
I do not know Catherines mothers name.

All other information from IGI

All I know is they came from Celbridge Co Kildare some time in the 1870's
I do not know anymore. I would love too.
My mum was convinced she was Irish but Norah was the only lady in my tree of Irish descent and she was born in Salford.

Eringobragh1916 Report 14 Apr 2011 21:39

Simon...I have found the following children also born to Patrick and Cath (Forde)...
reg. Salford.

Mary Ann Usbands...June quarter 1876.
George Edward Usbands....Dec quarter 1878

As these two do not show on 1881 Census with Con. then I am assuming they have died or are with the Forde g parents...

Loads of Usbands

Why was my Great Grandma Husband?

I guess you have found no Irish Records for George Usbands 1832

Simon

Simon Report 15 Apr 2011 17:43

nudge

George 1832 seems as difficult to track as James Greenwood 1832

Oh no
