Samatha you are not doing anything wrong. The name is so unusual that none of the vicars can spell it. I'm having to look up almost every christening one by one instead of being able to do them in one hit.

Now what's your geography like? Ann was born in Clayhin, Argyle & I've no idea where this is!

Perhaps more importantly, as Ann was born in Argyl as was Jane McAllister the chances of the wedding taking place there is increased.

When i done Elenor it came up with Helen so i take it that Helen was her real name

I found the christening on the IGI, there's a thread about it at the top of the Tips board. I will leave the rest of James' siblings for you to find but there's no hurry.

Ive tried looking for a marriage for Helen's parents on Scotlands people with no joy as yet, shall keep searching

I'd say thats very much her maiden name now that i have been looking at the document, god girl how do you do this, im amazed.

For Helen I would suggest that you go for her parent's marriage before trying to track her on the census.
Hopefully she will have been born in the same county as they married.
