Hi sarah,
no luck sorry. But there are heaps of Percy' but non with his parents to cross ref. If they came out after 1906 they may not have been registered to vote in that time frame.

Hi Trish,
this thread is for look ups in australia sorry. As far looking for Williams father, do you know who his mother is? if so find his parents marriage record and purchase it. It may have more info to narrow down your search, little a middle name etc.
Or if you live in england visit the parish records office and look through the records, it is less costly that way.
have you purchased the marriage record for william and rosetta to see if his father is listed?
I will try and have a look at the 1901 census later tonight but no promises.
Good Luck, Louisa

Hi Trish,
Took 2 seconds to find him on the 1881 census. you can view it for free on ancestry.co.uk
When you order a certificate you have the option of adding a fathers name as an option that way they will not send you the cert you have requested if the fathers name listed is not John.

Hi Louisa
Thanks for all that. Lots of info to pour through. Ella died in 1926 and Herbert died in 1921 and Maude seems to have travelled around quite a lot after that. Apparently she was with her sister Bessie Tripp around 1945.
Will have to trace the Abbotsford Tripps - could be family. Also the Elmore Ellertons as Maude was there in 1936.
One answer leads to many questions!
Many thanks for all your hardwork.

Hi Louisa
When you are next doing lookups, could you look for the COLE family of Oyster Bay Tasmania ?
Thomas Cornelius Guy Cole and his wife Gwendoline Marguerite had five children according to his WW1 records, but I cannot access any Tas records to find out their names. WW1 records indicate their address was Oyster Bay.

1919 Thomas Cornelius Guy Cole, Clerk @291 Liverpool Street, Hobart east (this could be the same person listed at his work address, I have seen this happen more then a few times where they were caught at work then at home or the person at home listed them) or it could be a son??
1928 William Edward Cole, Lab. @High Peak, Franklin TAS Margaret cole, dom. duties Joseph Joshua Cole, Lab. @Watchorn's Hill, Franklin Tas Joseph Henry Cole Jnr, Lab. Annie May Cole, home duties @Strickland Street, Nelson, Franklin TAS Lillie May Cole, home duties John Cole, civil serv. @Proctor Road, Nelson, franklin TAS (not clear)

Hi again Louisa, Thomas nelson Browning was born in Hackney London 1880. Migrated to N.z married Mary Gilchrist. Had 5 children, Mary died. Youngest child Ruby was approx 4 when they came to Sydney. Ruby was born in 1916. Thomas did go to Q'land for a while but I'm not sure when. Thank you for trying Cheers Leonie.

Hello Louisa THank you so much for doiing this search for me. I had not seen this William before, and am looking forward to finding more out about him. I'm going to get a marriage certificate, and that will confirm whether or not John was his father, and I will be able to move forwardw with more certainty. I so appreciate your help and think you are very generous and kind. Best wishes Trish

Hi Louisa,
When you get a moment could you please look up the electoral rolls for me.
I have a number of ancestors from the same family but could you see if you can find:-
Gertrude Annie Town as a single person and then after she married Gertrude Annie Loving and her husband Cyrus Loving. They lived in Queensland and NSW.
If this is a success would it be alright to ask for some more (I sound like Oliver twist!) please?
Many thanks Carl

Hi Louisa
I am trying to trace an Ernest Farthing who died on a boat either to or from Australia. He was born around the late 1800's I think.
Thank you for your kindness.
