Thank you Chris and Dea
sounds like William was often in scraps!
Now my main puzzle is to try and find out why/how Eunice ended up In Ireland with Abraham giving birth to William?!

As per Chris's post above, this was a William Owen who spent a few days in Gaol in 1868 and was in the Stonehouse area, but he was only a boy ??

That would be Overseers...(to see info. you need Gloucestershire Archives, or can be ordered from that link)
Could be as in Workhouse?.
Possibly William, not sure if any other about in Stonehouse at that time...
Chris :)
(and below if him, or another)
01 August 1874 - Gloucester Journal - Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England
William Owen, a plasterer, of Stonehouse, was charged with assaulting Henry Fellows on July 22nd. Complainant, who is in the employ of the Stroud-water Canal Company, saw the defendant and several other men fishing in the Canal at Eastington, and followed them to get their names, when defendant threatened to throw him into the Canal, and took hold of him and shook him. Fined 12s and 8s costs.

Yes, it seems strange that she went...and they would have been newly married (perhaps she was already pregnant with William when they married)?

A little history- fits with a birth in Ireland:
http://glosters.tripod.com/militia1.htm
North Gloucester Militia
In 1792 they were recalled and moved to Plymouth and in 1795 were at Weymouth. King George III was also at Weymouth and the battalion was granted the title of 'Royal'.
When the rebellion broke out in Ireland in 1798, the Royal North Gloucestershire Militia volunteered to serve. They moved to Pill, near Bristol, and sailed for Dublin....
They then marched to Drogheda but saw no action...
.........April 1799 the battalion returned to England ----------------------------------
So, if the dates are correct, William was born in Ireland between September 1798 and April 1799.

Elizabeth- I think Abraham and Eunice were William's parents- there are no marriage certificates before 1837- the entry above for William and Caroline is a parish record (it gives no other details).
I think this is the marriage of Abraham and Eunice- perhaps Abraham was in Ireland serving with the North Gloucester Militia:
Record set Dorset Marriages Gender Male First name(s) Abraham Last name Owen Marriage year 1798 Spouse's First Name Eunice Spouse's Last Name Bryon County Dorset Country England Place Wyke Regis By licence or by banns Banns Description All Saints Marriage date 26 Feb 1798 Notes North Glooucester Militia <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Spouse parish otp Witnesses William INGRAM?, Wm. I believe this is William's marriage- Caroline's surname Horsbourn being a variation of Osborne:
Name: William Owen Gender: Male Marriage Date: 27 May 1828 Spouse: Caroline Horsbourn Event Type: Marriage Parish: Hempsted, Gloucestershire Parish as it Appears: Hempstead Register Type: Parish Registers
Both of the Hamlet of Littleworth Witnesses were John Owen and Abia Owen -----------------------------------------
I would assume that the Witnesses, John and Abia, were relatives of William. This is Abia's baptism and marriage:
Name: Abia Owen Event Type: Baptism Baptism Date: 26 Jun 1803 Baptism Place: Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, England Parish as it Appears: Stonehouse Register Type: Parish Registers Father: Abraham Owen Mother: Eunice Owen
Marriage: Name: Abia Owen Gender: Female Marriage Date: 9 Jun 1829 Spouse: John Rodway Event Type: Marriage Parish: Stonehouse, Gloucestershire Witnesses: Catherine Perron? and John Owen --------------------------------------------
I would think this is the burial of mother, Eunice:
First name(s) Eunice Last name Owen Birth year 1763 Death year 1847 Age 84 Burial year 14th February 1847 Place Stonehouse Church description ST CYR Church denomination ANGLICAN County Gloucestershire -----------------------------------------
And this is Eunice and Abraham in 1841- TWO doors down from William.

Abraham in 1851 (still two doors down from William):

Name: William Owen Birth Year: abt 1797 Death Year: abt 1882 Death Age: 85 Burial Date: 16 Jul 1882 Parish: Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, England Parish as it Appears: Stonehouse Register Type: Parish Registers
No nearer to helping with when he came over from Ireland
Ancestry does bring up this
Name: William Owen Birth Year: abt 1799 Age: 5y Residence Year: 1804 Residence: Stonehouse Reference Number: P316 OV 3/4/205
It's not much help as you have to order the original. But if it is him, he came over to Stonehouse very early on
