KEVIN RE SIMMONS Hi Kevin I looked at censuses & it appears Thomas Alfred Simmons came from Oxford as did his wife Clara. I'm guessing this is probably their marriage Dec 1871 Oxford 3a 1116 If this is correct his wife is Clara Cooper. Could you be so kind as to see if there is a burial for Edward MOSS at Letcombe Regis in 1870. Not sure if his wife Charlotte was buried there twixt 1851 (when she was in Inkpen) and 1861 (when Edward was listed as a widower in Letcombe Regis) but would be grateful if you could have a looksee

Hi Margaret
Would it be possible for you to look up a marriage in Wallingford?
Unfortunately i have very little info other than the Male surname was Simmon(d)s and the maiden name was Gill.
The marriage took place between 1900 and 1908. I am aware they had at least two children and probably more, one of which was born outside the area in Derbyshire in 1908 (my father's mother).
I appreciate that this is a big ask, but it would mean so much to me to be able to know their names, which could help me in tracing my grandparent's siblings.
Kind regards,
Kevin

Thank you so much for the information !
Mary Ann married a John Barefoot [Bearfoot?] They had 2 children - Edwin c1830 and John c1832., According to the census returns Edwin and John were born in Stanton St John
Mary Ann remarried in 1833 to Charles Colwell - I have 2 accounts of the marriage from different sources:
Marriage not in parish November 1833 Charles COLEWELL b otp & Mary Ann BAREFOOT wid St Mary Oxfoed There is a note made by the vicar to the effect that Mary Ann was sometimes known as Mary and sometimes Ann!! Also ahe was the widow of John BAREFOOT and daughter of Richard CASTLE.
and
m1833 - Charles Colwell of Stanton St John married in Oxford St Mary the Virgin to Ann Bearfoot Widow of Littlemoor 24/12/1833
I have no idea where or when John Barefoot was born, baptisd, married or died !! Mary can't have been a widow that long before she married Charles Colwell! They didnt seem to wait long before they remarried back then !

Hi Maggi
The Mary Arnold could be her.
I have birth certs for her children and all say Mary Ann Barnes - formerly Arnell
The witnesses on her marriage cert were Mark Wiggins and Ann Maynard
Will try and find these names on the 1851.
Thought perhaps Thomas might be from Ireland or that he was a made up name for respectibilty!
With no other info on Thomas unable to find a death.
Thanks once again
Marlene

Hi Marlene I found a Mary Arnold b 1831 Henley on 1851.She was working as a servant in West Wycombe,Bucks.Could this be your girl?
Are there no other clues?Who were the witnesses to her marriage?
Have you got any birth certs of her children to verify her name. They were'nt too great on spelling in those days.Mary probably could'nt read or write!
If I can be of further help please ask. Regards Maggi
