Hi Dorothy
Did Mr Willats marry??If so you should be able to get his fathers name from the marriage cert, which would help to trace his family in his young days.

Hi again Mary

I have been looking at the public trees on Ancestry and have found someone who appears to have Alfred (George) HOW and Ester, and Alfred HOW and Isabella in their tree. I am not a member and so am unable to send them a message. I would really appreciate it if you would contact them for me.

Hi Pam

I am 99.9% sure this is the Jones family in 1891,a few things have happened: Looks as if Mary J has died and Thomas has remarried and is now living in All Saints,B'ham, most of the children have left home including Edith A.
Check fathers occupation shown on Edith's marriage cert to make sure you have the correct family.

1891 55 Aberdeen St,Birmingham All Saints
Thomas Jones Head 46 Steel tube worker bBilston
Sarah J Jones Wife 36 b Dudley,Worcs
Esther L Jones Daur 13 Scholar b Bilston
Samuel Jones Son 11 Scholar b Bilston
Albert S Jones Son 6 Scholar b Smethwick,Staffs
William H Jones Son 4 Scholar b Smethwick

Edith A jones 14 Gen Dom Servant b Bilston living at 18 Coxwell Rd,Lady Wood,Birmingham
in the household of George F Davies 26 Professor of Music b Cardiff.

I could not find another Edith Jones with Father Thomas on 1881 or 1891 census.

I guess the age difference on marriage cert was an error made either by the registrar or by Edith when she gave age.

Hi Mary
The information you have found fits in with a birth cert that i sent for believing it was Henry Thomas Willats but the birth date was wrong ( 19th April )...I am almost sure it was 20th...also i think he just had one sister.. Is there any other way i can find his family background.. Your help is much appreciated. Dorothy.

Hi Mary,

Can you find the following in the 1861 census please?:

John Hadley born c1826, Smethwick, Staffordshire civil parish Harbourne

John's wife Ann nee Pickering born c1820 Warrington, Lancashire

Thier children:
Mary A born c1854, Smethwick, Staffordshire
Joseph born c1859, Smethwick

I think they were living in Bridge Street Smethwick, Staffordshire in 1861.

Found them in the 1851 and 1871 census but not 1861 census

Hi Mary

Just wondered if you were able to look up a family in the 1841, 51 and possibly 61 census. I'm looking for a Joseph Pearce and wife Sarah both born around 1785 +/-10 years. They were in the Lambeth, Surrey area in around 1816 and had children Henry, Grace and Richard, although they would have all left home I presume by the 1841 census. Thanks in advance for this lookup, I really appreciate it.

Kind regards
Belinda
