Just to ask you Mary, if you can find the Thomas R Cawley on the 1871 census that I saw. I even read the address as 20 Boardman St Oldham. Just to prove to me that I am not going mad !!!
Thanks
Maggie

so sorry Mary, my text was so confusing when I re read it. Both my gt and gt gt grandfathers were Thomas Robertson Cawley, the elder one born in 1821 and the younger one in 1855 and the marriage year I gave you was wrong. I am SO sorry, my head was all over the place last night. I viewed the 1871 census myself on Genes and found a Thomas R Cawley born Ireland and presumed I'd found my family, but I was clearly wrong, and now it looks like I will have to re draft my tree, and never to presume again!! I just dont know how anyone knows for sure which is their family member??
Thanks again
Maggie

Hi Maggie
I am rather puzzled by your message.
Are you saying that Thomas Robertson Cawley married in 1946(125 years old).
Also I checked out the 1871 census and it clearly says born in Oldham not Ireland where did you get the idea he was born in Ireland???
Did he really have 7 children on the 1901 census at the age of 80????

1861 census Oldham below Town,Oldham,Lancs
Thomas Cawley Head 40 Foreman Gas works
Mary A Cawley Wife 39
Robert Cawley Son 13 Office boy
John Cawley Son 11 Scholar
Francis Cawley Son 8 Scholar
Thomas Cawley Son 6 Scholar
ALL born Oldham

1851 Same address
Thomas Cawley Head 29 Labourer gas works
Mary Ann Cawley Wife 29 Hat liner
Robert Cawley Son 3
John Cawley Son 1
ALL born Oldham

Did you do the look up for 1871 yourself OR did someone else do it for you???

I am 100 % sure that the info I have given you is correct.

Merry Christmas
Mary

Hello Mary, could you do a trace on the 1851 census please? I am looking for Owen Hughes, born 1844 in Amlwch, son of Thomas, and Catherine. He possibly had a brother Hugh, 1850, and sister Rebeccah, 1846.
Any info would be helpful.
Thank you
