Sheila,

I am trying to trace my birth fathers parents. My father was Vernon Bell Watson born 31/03/1920 in the Fylde (Blackpool area) to a William Watson, a shoe repairer (according to a marriage certificate from my fathers later marriage. He never married my birth mum).
I have managed to look at marriage records from the 2nd quarter 1915 upto the end of 1919. No trace there. My mothers maiden name was Bell according to birth records for 1920.

Sorry to be so vague but adoption agencies never thought to keep decent records of ones ancestory!

Sheila,

It has just occurred to the old grey matter that My father was possibly conceived at the end of WW1 (1919). Therefore the marriage, if any, could have been prior to 1914, before going off to fight for King and Country!

Raymond, I am confused, or a bit dim!

Hi Sheila

Sorry to bother you again... was wondering if you could find a maiden name of MARY who married William Donahue 1889 in Sunderland?

Also if you can... a maiden name of MARY again born 1842 mother to William born 1865. She married a Donahue but I dont know the first name.

Sorry - only if you can. :)

Thanks :)

Hi Sheila,

That is a distinct possibility. I understand that my father had an Aunt in the Blackpool area which is the area he was born in. Chorlton is only 60 miles away. Rather ironic that although I was born in London, I spent my childhood in the next district to Chorlton!

Anyway, a very big thank you for taking time out on my behalf.

Hello Sheila
Wouldn't want you to be bored!
I wonder if you can tell me if there is an entry in the 1841 census for the Speakman family - William, born in Aldford, Cheshire in 1827 and his wife Nancy born in Sutton, Cheshire in 1795. They had a number of children but am I right in thinking that they wouldn't have been recorded on the 1841?
Thanks in advance
Barbara
