Hi Caroline
This one has got me stumped.
There is a William Sumner death:
Deaths Sep 1886 Sumner William 25 Walsall 6b 356
He was 25 so it could be him. I have looked at the 61 and 71 census to see if I could find a likely candidate but there are a couple it could be.
I think that I would be inclined to try for this death certificate to see if there is any link to the address that Theresa was born at.
Sorry I couldn't solve the mystery for you
Best wishes
Andrea

hi Andrea,
Ann Sharpe ( nee Wilson) born abt 1820, so would make her about 41years, or between 40-42 years.
Joseph's parents were Meshack Sharpe 1789 and Ann Roper 1782.
Thanks Allison

I think this is a bit strange. On the 1861 census John, the eldest son is down with the surname of Liddle, born at Seaton but the rest of the children are Lovatt.
In 1851 there is an Ellen , born in Southwick with a daughter Ellen, 2 months, born in Seaton. I think perhaps that this may be your Ellen.
I can't find a marriage record for them and I have tried every spelling of Lovatt that I can think of.
I will look some more tomorrow
Best Wishes

Hi Andrea Thank you for the kind offer of look ups today. I am trying to confirm the parents of James Longstaff b1756 Auckland St Helens. I have tried parish records but was told no records survive for the parish of that time. James went on to marry Ann Lambton in 1790 but I have no other details for her either. Any info would be most appreciated. Thanks Di

Here is a potential birth for Jane:
COWEN Jane 1861 Durham Western (available from durham.gov.uk)
Jane Cowen 1861 Jan-Feb-Mar Auckland Durham Durham Volume: 10a Page: 171
Hamsterley would be in Auckland so this could be it.
Let me know if it turns out to be any good.
Best Wishes

Hi Helen
The only marriage that I can find is a Patrick Donough to an Ann Macklin (although it is Mackin on Teesvalleyindexes) in Qtr 2 of 1882. It's in the right area and there is a chance that it may just be mis spelled.
I think I would be looking to get one of the children's birth certs and this might provide you with the confirmation that you need.
That said, I have looked at previous census for either a Ann or Patrick and I can't find them.
Best Wishes

I saw the one with the Coel family. Is there a definite connection with the Coel's?
Is it her birth you are looking for?
Many thanks

Hi Helen
All of the children's births are registered at Middlesbrough (teesvalleyindexes) and I have found them (badly transcribed!) in Linthorpe in 1891:
Michael Donahue Age: 5 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1886 Relation: Son Father's Name: Palk Mother's Name: Ann Gender: Male Where born: Middlesborough, Yorkshire, England Civil Parish: Linthorpe Ecclesiastical parish: St Hildas Town: Middlesborough County/Island: Yorkshire Country: England Street address:
Occupation:
Condition as to marriage:
Education:
Employment status: View Image Registration district: Middlesbrough Sub-registration district: Middlesbrough ED, institution, or vessel: 61 Neighbors: View others on page Household Members: Name Age Mary Donaghue 24 Ann Donahue 26 Daven Donahue 28 Janes Donahue 7 Margt Donahue 1 Michael Donahue 5 Palk Donahue 33 Thomas Donahue 3 According to the birth records James was born in 1884 so assumedly they married before that. I will keep on looking.
Best Wishes
Andrea
