hello i am looking for my mums dads parents. She never new her dad as he died in 1928 when she was just 11months old. i can't find them on any records Thos Jones was born around 1863 and was born around Mary Le Bone Law London. Alexanderer Burton and was born around 1865 in Lincs Bourne Union. I would be grateful for any help

Bourn is in Lincolnshire.

If you send off for this certificate, it will tell you her parents names, and her mother's maiden name. If, as you imply, she was born in the Union Workhouse, then be prepared to find that she was illegitimate.

To order a certificate, go to www.gro.gov.uk, click on Ordering Certificates Online in the box tot he right of thescreen, and follow instructions. They will ask you for the GRO reference number ... that is the 2 sets of numbers at the right side (ie, 7a 315).

I also couldn't find a marriage for an Alex* Burton to a Thomas Jones between 1880 and 1920


I found 2 marriages for an Alexandra Burton, both wih a middle name (different), in the early 1900s.

Mary Burton never married so we don't know the father of Alexandra. You will need to buy her birth cert and see if anything is mentioned there.
