Its very possible that George was a widow when he maried Charlotte. I cant as yet find a marriage so I am looking for births of the children. If I can find one you can order the cert and it gives mothers maiden name I think. Will have another look

Yes I do have Samuel on the 1841 census as Neillie then by the 1851 Mary Ann has married George Deane (I think in Bristol) and Samuel adopted that surname for the rest of his life.
