I am amazed at how fast you can find this information out .My father has no knowledge of any sisters.Do you think they could really be his sisters and have you come across a brother (Adam or David) who died at 6 months old?
Many thanks

Hi Selena

My father was told that he had a brother who was born before him.His brother died at around six months of age and he thinks he was called David or Adam. He has no idea as to the year of his birth or death.
Hope this helps

If they were married in 1930 and your dad not born until 1942 does he have any siblings?

Dionne your dads service records will only have the info he gave when he enlisted and then details of where he was stationed throughtout his service career.

Dear reggie

I agree with what you are saying. My father seems to think he was born in South Africa but isnt very sure.I think he was born in England.
My father served in the royal navy and was estranged from his mother for several years. On finally meeting up with her all that she would tell him was that his father had the surname Sloper and was serving in the grenadier guards. We have no information on his father at all.I have received an email listing a marriage between a Herbert J Sloper and Dorothea Maud Livermore dated 1930 in Bromley. Could info be obtained from my father's service records service number P/L 978064 which unfortunately he does not have.
Thankyou in anticipation

The birth was registered in Hendon district in JAS 1942..............how did the mother get from South Africa to England so quickly, with a new-born baby, in wartime?

if she wasnt married to his dad then you will have to wait until yours dads cert arrives,. if she was married to him then we try a marriage look up

Unfortunately, Dionne, until you have the birth cert, you can't begin to trace this person..........you need to have his name.

Was his mother married to his father?

I am trying to help my 65 year old father to gain information on his father. My father was told that his father was a Grenadier Guard. But he never met him.

My fathers name is Richard Charles Sloper
DOB 15/08/42
Place of Birth he beleives to be in South Africa but the birth was registered at Harrow by his mother Dorothea Livermore who died in 1996 and was born 1908. In later life she married Arthur Knight.

I have requested a full birth cirtificate for my father but this will take two weeks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
