Hi All
I was thinking of going down the other route of Herberts brother Henry to see if I can find out any information on Herbert. I have reposted the information that brenda so kindly found for me. I have put these names into the search for trees at genes and there is a one possible tree match.I have emailed the owner and wait a reply. I am trying to find any information on Pamela Sloper born 1943 and Wendy born 1946. A contact address would be brillient as I would like to write to her. They would both share a great grandfather along with my father. I know it is a long shot but they just might have some information on Herbert that I could give to my father.
Many thanks Dionne

Hi All
Brenda I really dont think that Shipton was in the Irish Guards. My father can remember him working for Kodak in London and he always use to come back home with black hands.
Wayne my mothers tree has come on great and it is nearly finished.Alot easier to do.lol
My mother and I have also managed to find the schools that my father went to as a child on friends reunited.. There are even photos on the site and we are sure to have found two of my father as a young boy. So many memories have come flooding back to my father and we are in the process of contacting some of the boys that were at the school around the same time of my father.
I cant wait for Dorotheas sisters marriage certificate to turn up just so that I can see the fathers name and occupation. Will keep you posted.

Hi,
Don't think it was me that found birth certificates for Dorothea and Constance. I couldn't find any and asked if perhaps Dorothea was born in SA.
Could Shipton of been in the Irish Guards? Its just that I was looking up Grenadier Guards and stumbled across the name Charlie Shipton but in Irish Guards. This one was married but now deceased. There were a couple of photographs of him. Probably a most stupid questiion and just grabbing at very flimsy straws!

Hi Selena.
I have ordered the marriage certificate for Edith Constance to see what details she put down for her father. If her certificate doent match up with Dorotheas then I will be ordering the birth certificates that Brenda found. The certificate should be here this week. It could be getting quite expensive but the family are also chipping in as I am also working on my mothers family tree. Dionne x

Have you ordered any birth certs for Constance and Dorothea? I think Brenda found one in 1909 for Dorothea and also a possible Edith Constance in 1910 West Ham?
This must be getting expensive now!

Update....
I joined a site Ancestry24. It is a South Africa site and you have to subscibe. You can check parish records, wills, burials, military, schooling to name but a few. GUESS WHAT!! I typed in Dorothea Livermore,Edwin William Livermore,Edith Constance Livermore.
There was absolutely no record of any of them anywhere..I cant wait to get Edith Constance's marriage certificagte to see hwat information she put down for her father...So the plot still thickens. Dionne

I have ordered the marriage certificate of Dorotheas sister Edith Constance.i want to what she put down as her father and occupation. It seemed Dorothea told so many 'stories' that it is hard to tell fact from fiction at the moment.. Dionne

Dionne You should be able to find where the regiment were at a particular time. He would have gone to South Africa in the Boer War but that ended in 1902 I believe but of course the regiment may not have come home right away. If you can't find anything online it may mean a trip to Kew. Von

Hi again.
That is exactly what I was thinking all along. Her sister was born a year after her. I was thinking they both made their way back over to england.it must have been at an early age because not forgetting we have a child from Dorothea and she was only 19 when the child was born. I am still waiting for this certificate to arrive. But it still doesnt explain why I cant find any information on Dorotheas father.Umm! Dionne

If she was right and he was in service, maybe his wife here isn't her mother?
I know we're clutching at straws, but she was maybe the product of a daliance abroad?

LOL OH Yye Wayne I have. After posting the reply I saw my mistake. Even 17 seems so young to get married. If these are the parents of Dorothea then what bothers me is why did they go to South Africa? Have two children over there and the children come back to England. So should I be looking for information on the mother now? Dorothea never once talked about her mother to my father.I wonder why!! Oh Wow Wayne Thankyou Could that really be the birth of Edwin? It cant be the marriage because if the birth is the correct one he would have only been seven at the time, lol.
As for finding the father in South Africa. I went to the Royal medical Corps History site and typed his name in the search bar for around the 1900's and absolutely nothing comes up in their records.
Thankyou Dionne
