I think I was almost as excited as you are!! I suppose the family info was recorded when he enlisted, so he wouldn't have been married then, and it just never got added on. Haven't looked at the census yet - wanted to hear what you thought first, but now off to look at it!

Oh Ann
You wonderful wonderful lady.Thankyou so very very much. This just has to be him doesnt it. I just cant beleive that you have found him and details of a family too.I am wondering where he now died as there is no record that I can find in South Africa for him.
So it looks like his daughter Dorothea could have been telling the truth and was born in South Africa after all.Strange no mention of a wife or children.I wonder what happened to Dorotheas mother.
at least I have more to work on now and Ann if you were close by I would come in give you a huge bunch of flowers and a hug to go with it.
Thankyou so very very much. Dionne xx

Yes, Dionne, I have!! Just got back from Kew, and I found what I assume are his Army records.
There was nothing in WW1 service records, so I then looked at those discharged to pension 1900-1913. I didn't take copies, but have made notes on the relevant bits. Name Edward William Livermore, Royal Army Medical Corps. Born Southminster (?? hard to read), Maldon, Essex. Aged 18 when he enlisted in 1900. Trade - Baker. He was promoted to Corporal 1/10/1910, and was discharged 6/5/1912. He was in South Africa from 7/12/1901-29/11/1911. His father was William, address 9 Balkerne (??) Lane, Colchester. Mother Annie, 3 sisters -Edith Annie and Florence. Unfortunately no wife or children mentioned. I think this must be him and hopefully now you can track the family down on the census, and even trace the 3 sisters forwards!

Hi Brenda Wayne and Ann
I dont think you will find a death for Edward Livermore over here.I think he died abroad.
There is the South Africa connection on Dorotheas death certificate saying born in South Africa.
Also on Dorotheas marriage certificate aged 21 she has her father as Royal Army Medical Corps Deceased.
Wayne I would not have thought that Constance would have lied about her age on her marriage certificate. It shows she was older then her husband.if she was going to lie about her age wouldnt she have wanted to make herself look younger?I know I would have, lol.
Ann. I do hope you are able to find some information at Kew for me.
WIll be back later.Have to prepere the tea.
Many thanks Dionne

would Livermore senior have been in the Great War?
If so it might be worth looking at the absent voters lists for the london districts to see if he's on them?
Oh and Constance might have lied about her age on her marriage cert !!

Either Dorothea was married before marrying McIntosh or she was known by both names ie Dorothea M Livermore and Dorothea M Squire. I have not found a previous marriage for her as I started checking when she was aged 16 in 1944

OMG OMG!!!!
I have just received some certificates.
Constances marriage certificate and the birth certificate for the child Dorothea Maud Livermore.
Constances marriage certificate. MARRIED 2nd Jan 1939 to Victor Turner he was 28 she was 32. Makes her dob 1907(Dorothea always said that she was older then her sister when infact she was Younger ADDRESS 27 Northview Crescent,Neasden WITNESSED BY Dorothea Maud Sloper. FATHERS NAME AND al OCCUPATION. Lance Corporal Royal Army Medical Corps. EDWARD WILLIAM LIVERMORE.
So it looks like Edward William Livermore was the father.I have come across his name a few times. So at least now I have someting concrete to work on.
BUT THE BIGGEST SURPRISE OF ALL...
The child Dorothea Maud Livermore born 9th may 1928.....The mother was ...... Edith Constance Livermore.
There is nothing on the certificate to say the child was adopted unlike the two children Dorothea had their certificates said adopted.
So both sisters had children and gave them each others names. Interesting!!!
Let the searching begin,lol
