Hi Ann

Guess who had to come home early and the first thing I do is get on the computer, lol
It all sounds very complicated about his service records.Thanoyu so much for his records. I dont surpose there was a next of kin listed on his records?
It will be interesting to see what the expert says on Saturday.
I will PM you my address now.
Many Many thanks Ann for all of your efforts.

Sorry everyone - I found nothing in the pension records today. I looked at those discharged due to disability and extended the length of my search into those discharged for length of service (the records I looked at the other day). I've copied his service records now, Dionne, so if you can please pm your address, I'll send them. Having now looked at his record in more detail, it seems a possibility that the Army may have wangled out of granting him a pension - the dates of his service are fairly complicated. I wanted to speak to THE military expert at Kew today, but he wasn't there. Spoke to another one, but he gave me false info and wasn't too pleased when I argued with him! Anyway, the real expert will be there on Saturday, so shall hopefully seek his opinion. If he really wasn't granted a pension immediately, perhaps there may be some correspondence about the case. So again it will have to wait a few more days!

Hi, Ann you could be just the person I'm looking for. i live a short way from Kew, and would like to go to the archives but I'm a bit worried I won't know what to do when I'm there. Is it a busy place and are there plenty of people around to help out?
Thankyou Samantha.

And yes I have been glued to this thread. Can't wait for the Homes report to come :-)

Thankyou Sue Wayne and Brenda.

I have had a long day at work today and feel slightly off colour.I will be writing to the addesses and will do this on my day off which is Thursday.

Do you remember weeks ago that I wrote to Shaftsbury Homes re my father and when he was placed there? Well I received an email today saying that they had found a 1 page admission record for my father. They requested my postal address so that they could forward it on to me. It should hopefully have the information of both of my fathers parents. Fingers crossed and when I receive the information you will all be the first to know

Ann... If you are about have you managed to go back to Kew yet?

Thanks again everyone for your continued hard work.

Wayne, have you noticed that there are two addresses for Ruth M Mezits?Looked on 192 (dont have any credits) and double checked with living relatives on findmypast. Bit of a coincidence to be two different people? What do you think?

Dionne

I have pm'd you the address of Ruth, weirdly the registration for the address still has Ansis's old records still attached... the Ruth i have found is only 34 so i would say it was their daughter....

Hi Brenda

Thankyou for all of these leads. The Ruth Springett born 1944 looks really promising.I have searched for a death for her and have not been able to find one.So I am hoping that is another good thing.
I have done a tree search for the names but nothing so far.
I will do a search for a possible address for this Ruth.
I will be back again tomorrow after work but have to go now as family are waiting to go out.
Many Many thanks

I expect the army just heard Edith, Annie & Florence and assumed they were three sisters. I wasn't criticising you Ann - hope you don't think that I was? Your visit to Kew was the opening that was needed on this tree.

Brenda

I am only repeating what was on the Army records I found - 3 sisters. This was before we all looked at the census and saw that 1 was a stepsister, but Army record just said 3 sisters.

Moody Blue

Moody Blue Report 5 Nov 2007 17:48

I know that feeling well! With everything that has been going on in your ancestry you can be forgiven for getting confused.
