Dionne, I totally agree with Ann. Please don't close it yet. I am fascinated by Dorothea's story.
Have we exhausted Passenger lists coming into the UK? Electoral rolls? What about the adopted sister's? I think I have read about people having a note put on the adoptee's file via Social Services.
Just racking my brains here. Maybe things happended so fast, and now its slowed down, it feels like there is nothing else to do.
Remember you have done soooo much in such a short time!

NO!!!! Don't close it - there are still things we can try, but I'd have to read through it all again to think of what we could try!

Good evening everyone.
I have an update on dorothea Livermore for you (my dads mother). As you might remember we couldnt find a copy of her will.My father wrote to the bank that his mother use to bank with as he remembered that her will was held there.
He received a letter today from the bank.It seems even before her death she was still playing her games and my gut instinct was correct. Ater the contact with my father stoped when he met her later in life she disposed of all of her assets. There was a total of 400.00 in her bank at the time of her death. This is why it didnt go to probate. We think she had about 19.000 in her account.I had always said that I think she would have given this money to her stepson (the son of Arther her second husband).
It wasnt the money that we had any interest in.We were hoping that there might have been some names mentioned in her will that could have possibly led to some more clues on her parents etc.But true to form nothing.
Does anyone think that I should now close this thread? It seems that we have come to a dead end as far as Edwin William Livermore and his son are concerned and I really dont know where to go next.
Any ideas?

Hope this solves the side discussion... def says you need to be an upgraded member to email...
How do I contact other members? If there is a member you would like to contact about a matching relative's name, following a search, click on 'send message'. If you have searched for names via the My Tree Matches section of the site then click on the 'send message' next to the name you are interested in. You can then enter a message to see if they can help you with any more details.
You must be an upgraded member to send an email.
This will send a message to their registered email address informing them that they have a new message on the site. They can then reply to this. Any replies will be sent to your inbox in the Genes Reunited contact centre. You will also receive an email if you have received a reply in your own inbox.
If this FAQ does not answer your question, please submit your query to our dedicated support team

I've definitely had messages saying that they couldn't reply until they had re-subscribed, so either there is a glitch and sometimes people can, and sometimes they can't, I agree, they will be able to access the site and read their messages.

To clarify
A non paying member can both receive & reply to messages. They can not initiate new messages of their own

Which was exactly my point. If this is anything like friendsreunited - once you are no longer a subscriber you can still receive pm but cannot reply to them unless you resubscribe. I cannot imagine that GR would be any different, they are after all a money making busines.

Yes but what if they dont have a paid up subsciption? & they send a message Via GR ? does it still work ? Does it mean hat you have to reply to the sender personally & Not through GR.threads, which is kind of what I was saying, not a subscriber so no messages get through unless you PM them,if they still have the same Email address????? all very confusing.. >

What a lovely Xmas present for yourself and your father. Fantastic news.
How exciting for you.
I would be tempted to pm the Livermores on here that have not responded to you. Include your home email address. If they are no longer subscribing, I am sure they will still get your pm although wont be able to answer you...If you give them your email in the message they could then email you. Hope you get some more success soon.
Would also write again to Pamela and let her have your phone number including the timings of when you are likely to be in.
Dont give up, we are all hooked on this.
Bob - MoD Police were originally War Department Police/Air Ministry Police/Admiralty Police, I believe. Royal Military Police still exist and are part of the Army. Both RMP & MoD Police would be mortified at being confused with each other.
Take care.

Dionne - congratulations on finding Pamela. I'm so excited for you.
Just a couple of points. 1) When you write to her why don't you give her your phone number & email address & see how it goes from there.
2) I've written many letters over my time of researching family history & know it often takes a while to get a reply. I understand you're keen to get answers but people need time to digest the information. Also, like everyone, they lead busy lives & sometimes have good intentions to write but don't get around to it straight away. I wouldn't start badgering them after only two weeks.
I got an answer a year later once. The original recipient had died and her daughter answered when she found the letter in her mother's papers.
Ozi.

Hello, fellow GR members. I've just been perusing bits of this thread and enjoying the success story. A bit of cold water ...
As was pointed out, posting phone numbers is a definitely bad idea. I would have to say the same thing about posting the names of living people who are not involved in this discussion.
We all object to having our personal info and info about our kids, etc., included in strangers' trees on the net, right? I think the same policy should apply whether the info is in a tree or on a message board.
The people in question haven't consented to their names being posted in public, let alone their possible addresses. And if they knew, it just might put a bit of a chill on the developing relationship, in addition.
I'd strongly recommend editing any post that contains the names and any other personal info (like former addresses) of anybody now living. An initial might do, for each one.
Sorry to be a dark cloud, but I'm a stickler for internet security and privacy, including strangers'!

Dionne,
The idea of a summary was only on days you are stuck and feel you have nothing to do!!!
Now you have letters to write! Personally, I would respect the fact that Pamela chose not to give you her phone number initially, and send another letter, saying you would welcome the idea to talk on the phone, and let her give you the phone number when she is happy with it, as you know, finding out all this information is a bit of a shock for her too!
Anyway, delighted that you have found some living blood relations, and someone with photos too!!
Shows all the efforts have been worthwhile.
I think your Christmas card list has just got longer!!
Best wishes,
Pam & Diane

The problem with some of the people on this site is that they do a bit of their tree then give up or dont renew their membership ( Thats what Ive found in the past) >

Hi Bob
Thankyou for the information and trying for me.I do agree with Wayne also if you find any personal information like that then please send it in a private message. But I do thankyou again.
I have called the numbers of E Leach and A Leach.Unfortunately they were both the people were not the ones that we are looking for.
As I said earlier it looks like I will have to communicate by the old fashioned method of letter writting. Many thanks everyone.
It also seems that the people I have contacted by email and family trees on Genes re the Livermores are not replying to me.I really do think that I am now close to giving up on what happened to Edwin Livermore when he left the Army.
Do you think I might get any further if I wrote to the Army as I do have his service number. They must know what part of South Africa his regiment would have searved in.Its only an idea but does anyone think it would be of any benifit to write? Ideas on a postcard please, lol.

I'm not sure it's a good idea to post peoples telephone numbers on such a public site. Those would have been better in a PM to Dionne as she is the only one who needs this info?
