Dionne Report 18 Jan 2009 16:50

Hi Nicky.

Thankyou very much for the information.

I did mange to obtain that information a while ago and have all of the Sloper family tree completed as far back as the 1400's.
I still have the one piece of the jigsaw puzzle for the Livermore family to find. Edwin Livermore, his wife and where Edwin died. But thankyou vvery much for thinking of me.

As for an update friends, there is nothing what soever that I can tell you. I have tried and tried to frind the missing piece but no luck what so ever. I am also very linited for time now due to my work commitments and working long hours.

I am just praying that I will be able to find the information whilst my father is still alive. He isnt in the best of health so its a bit of a worry.

I do promice that if I do find any information then I will come her and post straight away.

Happy New Year everyone

Dionne

The daughter was Edith Constance Livermore not Gwendoline.
She married Victor Turner in 1939.

That age would fit with the daughter Edith, who was 6 in 1914. Can't remember who she married, though!

Ann,

I also wondered if it was his (ex) wife & thats why, mainly, I continued on until 1972 but as she was still there, I came to the conclusion that if it was a relative, it would have to be his daughter as his wife would've been about 100!!!

Well done Sue! I can't remember who Edith married now, without ploughing through the thread. I wondered whether it could be his wife at the address, but if she was still there in 1972 she'd be getting on a bit, to say the least!

Hi Dionne

I went to Worthing Library in my lunch hour and started to look at Electoral roll from 1956 onwards.

1956 - 1959 inclusive, the only person showing for 111 Nutley Crescent was Edith G Bennett

In 1960 only, Edith was joined by Grace L Bennett

From 1961 - 1972 (when I ran out of time & had stop) it was Edith G Bennett on her own

Did you ever find out if Dorothea's sister, Edith, married? Maybe she married a Mr Bennett??

Not sure that this is of much help to you I'm afraid.

Good Luck, Sue

No problem, I'll call into the library as soon as I can and let you know who was living in Nutley Crescent

Goog evening .

Thanks so much Sue. Yes I would love to take you up on your offer. Dorothea settled in Worthing when she re married. When I saw the worting connection it got me wondering if she went there because this is where her father lived. I am really hoping to get some good news with these latest developments.

Many thanks
Dionne

I know that you had some connection to Worthing when your thread first started as i remember offering any local help that you may need (& I've read your thread with interest ever since).

I have just rung the Worthing Reference Library who confirm that they have Electoral Roll details for Goring in 1956 - if you would like me to pop in & look up 111 Nutley Crescent, please just say.
I work in the town & it would be no problem at all.

Good Luck, Sue

I've been reading this most of the evening and I'm only on page 26.

Please give your Dad a hug from me His story is reminiscent of my own Dad's in certain aspects. My Dad was the unwanted baby and was made to suffer for that. His Father beat him and mentally abused him and after his father's death his brothers in law were called upon to chastise him.

Thankfully, my Dad was able to break the cycle but his childhood left him emotionally scarred for life and I think ultimately contributed to his death because he stored everything up inside.

The whole reason I started looking into my tree was that I needed to know why my dad's father was a bully.
