Hi Gwen
It nice that a relative that died bth so young and so long ago is still remembered.
I am willing to look up more information for you, but i need a little more info if you have it at all. As previously explained to you, there are unfortunately about 10 Arthur Shaw's per Qtr in 1900 alone!! With no say which one is likely to be the one in question.
Now days they put alot more information on a record of birth/marriage/death, but in the 1900's it was literally their name and the county or as near to that they were born.

If you know where he is likely to have been born or what quarter of the year he was born, i may be able to narrow the search down, the only other thing i would suggest you do (which is probably the best, to be honest) is to obtain the death cert i have given you the details for, this will provide his actual date of birth and sometimes does provide his parents details.

Ceri,
Thank you so much for your time xx
How strange that James cant be found!
The Catherine you have for 1921/24/27 is my great aunt...quite a jet setter and carried on till she died in 1869..God love her :0))
Strange with James as we were always told he died young, then Jennifer found on a Lancaster monumental inscription that on his Mothers' grave, he is listed as accidently killed in Canada. His sister Elizabeth also went to Canada once married...what a puzzle I have to unravel!!
My very best wishes to you and your soonish new arrival xx
Just seen new post...I shall try archives, many thanks x

After checking the passenger lists i have acces to which are 1890 - 1960, the only JAMES Checkett i found was one travelling to USA in 1907 and they are entered as being 10yrs old, so i dont think this is him.

I then tried a general search for the name Checkett (as it isnt that common) and it only found the following:
The details below provide the passengers Last name, First name, Age, Sex, Year of departure, Departure port, Destination country, Destination
port (in this order)

CHECKETT A (no age given) M 1911 Liverpool USA Boston
CHECKETT Annie Adult F 1910 Glasgow Canada Saint John Nb
CHECKETT Catherine 25 F 1921 Liverpool Canada Quebec
CHECKETT Catherine 30 F 1924 Liverpool USA New York

I have looked William up for you, this is his birth but i think you already have this.
William L Robinson, mothers maiden name Sewell, born Epping, vol 4a page 850 - 1st Qtr 1923

I did look for his marriage and death but as both William and Robinson arent exactly unheard of names it is coming up with thousands of results, unfortunately i do not have the time to go through every single one without some kind of estimate as to the year or his partners name.

This is Stanley's birth, again i think you already had this but,
Stanley A Robinson, mothers maiden name Sewell, born B. Stortford, vol 3a page 1181, 3rd Qtr 1924

I looked for his marriage dispite having no approximate year, working on the fact that you are unable to marry until 16yrs, i searched years 1940 - 1945 and came up with the following (i am by no means saying that any of them are him as he may not have got married until later) you would however be able to confirm with the actual certs.

Stanley A Robinson to May A Crow, in Edmonton, vol 3a page 2615 - 2nd Qtr 1942
Stanley A Robinson to Elizabeth Shorrock, in Darwen, vol 8e page 775 - 2nd Qtr 1943
Stanley A Robinson to Doreen F Bentley, in Woolwich, vol 1d page 2154 - 4th Qtr 1945
Stanley A Robinson to Rose M Palmer, in Bethanal Green, vol 1c page 203 - 4th Qtr 1945

i have not been able to locate a death record for Stanley.

This is Douglas's Birth
Douglas M Robinson, mothers maiden naem Sewell, born in Epping vol 4a page 617 3rd Qtr 1930

I looked at the marriage records from 1946 - 1956 and the following is the only one i found, therefore i would guess that this is him.
Douglas M Robinson to Florence M. E Thomas @ Essex S.W, vol 5a page 524 - 1st Qtr 1953

Couldnt find a death record for him at present.

Lily's birth
Lily M Robinson, mothers maiden name = Sewell, born Epping, vol 4a page 665

Could not find anything else!
Sorry

I have checked for Geoffrey King 1944 1st Qtr (Jan, Feb, March) births and found the following, three results, you didnt say where he was born or even an area so i wouldnt like to say which one it would be. However, if you are aware out of the three what one it is likely to be, you can obtain the actual certificate which should provide the mother and father details etc.

Geoffrey King - mothers maiden name = Rowbotham, born in Bromley vol 2a page 1640

Geoffrey King - mothers maiden name = Goodes, born Edmonton, vol 3a page 1411

Geoffrey L King - mothers maiden name = Becraft, born Hatfield, vol 3a page 1998

You didnt say what the 2 boys (Barry and brian) or Doris? surnames were so i have been unable to look for them at all.

Many thanks,

Hi Ceri/Ian,
Thank you for your help.
My Gradfather Charles Henry has been causing me a problem for ages..I mean that in a nice way. We have a copy of his birth Cert which lists his mum and dad.
But when we come to try and trace/ get info on his mum and dad we hit a brick wall.. It's as though they never existed, very strange. We tried looking for a marriage cert for his mum and dad, no luck.. There was a story in the family that Charles Henry was born out of wedlock but surely it would have said something to that effect on his birth cert. Another family story was that his parents died not long after he was born and he went into a home. But I can find no death certs to prove this. Any ideas how I can carry on the search... looks like it's going to be a long and difficult one.
Sorry to go on so...
Regards
Colin

Hi Ian/Ceri,
Could you possibly look for my g.uncle for me?
Details I have are;
James Birkett Checkett born apr qtr 1891 in Lancaster to Mary and Benjamin Checkett.
Last found on 1901 census in Lancaster aged 9 with his parents.
Thanks to Jennifer and Lancs memorials I have finally found that he was accidently killed in Canada 7th Nov 1912. aged 21.
I'd never have thought Canada and have spent hours trawling for a death here!!
I wonder if you can find any trace of him going to Canada? And maybe a death entry so as I can find out what happened to him.
Any help gratefully received.

I notice you want marriage and death records for your relatives. This is fine i shall have a look for you but do you know estimated years of the events for each of them and places where they took place, only otherwise i have to go through every record (thousands) which is obviously very time consuming.
