Hi Ceri, Did wonder if you'd still be about...or if you can reach your keyboard:0))) When you have time, would you be able to see if there is a listing for Elizabeth and William Henry H Thwaites leaving England (poss Liverpool) for Canada after 1914. I believe they ended up in Ontario, but again I have quite limited info :0((( Many thanks for your time, Jane x

Jodie When i looked for Carolines marriage there are only the following two! Caroline Matilda Vane 1898 Jul-Aug-Sep St Olave Southwark (1837-1901) London, Surrey Caroline Maue Vane 1909 Oct-Nov-Dec West Ham Essex, Greater London
Again i wont find her death without her married name.
The following would appear to be Emily's marriage Name: Emily Jane Vane Year of Registration: 1901 Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec District: Brighton County: Sussex, East Sussex Volume: 2b Page: 469

The following are all the Alice knight deaths that were born in 1857. Record
Preview Name: Alice Knight Estimated Birth Year: abt 1857 Year of Registration: 1872 Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec Age at Death: 15 District: Kings Norton (To 1912) County: Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire Volume: 6c The following are all the Alice Knight's deaths recorded, that were born in 1857 Alice Knight abt 1857 1872 Oct-Nov-Dec Kings Norton (To 1912) Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire Alice Knight abt 1857 1885 Apr-May-Jun Caistor Lincolnshire Alice Knight abt 1857 1899 Apr-May-Jun Paddington Greater London, London, Middlesex

Hello Ian
Can you please help me to locate my gt aunt on your passenger lists. This is the information that I have already gleaned.
My gt. uncle Samuel Morgan left Pontardulais, Wales and arrived at Ellis Island on 2nd July, 1920. He went to stay with a friend at Irwin St, Woodlawn, Pittsburg. My gt aunt Margaret (Maggie) did not travel with him but joined him later. The Ellis Island passenger lists only go to 1924. She would have travelled from Llangyfalach, Wales possibly with some of her children. Their names are Denzil, Gilbert and Noel and Peggy Morgan. I don't know how many of the children, if any, were born in Wales. That's all I have. Can you help please?
Many thanks, Isobel

Thelma These are all the Sophia Thomas's aged between 50 and 60 in 1841 Household THOMAS, Sophia 50 F Bristol Household THOMAS, Sophia 55 F Burton Upon Trent Household THOMAS, Sophia 51 F Bridgend & Cowbridge Household THOMAS, Sophia 55 F Cardiff Household THOMAS, Sophia 50 F Lambeth **Household THOMAS, Sophia 55 F Shoreditch **Household THOMAS, Sophia 50 F London, East Household THOMAS, Sophia 50 F Greenwich Household THOMAS, Sophia 55 F Carmarthen Household THOMAS, Sophia 50 F Haverfordwest
I then did the same search but added a Joseph to the household the results i have starred above ie the one from Shoreditch and the other London East.
I would advise that the one from Shoreditch is a Workhouse, the Joseph in the household does not appear to be related, and there about 50 people plus living here all aged between 11 days!! and 90yrs!! And the london one the Joseph is only 20yrs old Hope this helps sorry Ceri

Hi Ceri, I think she came from Portsea in Hampshire and she would have been roughly between 50 and 60 in 1841. Still probably living in the same area. Hope this may help. Thank you, Thelma

Colin This is the only death record for John Ranson born 1791. Name: John Ranson Estimated Birth Year: abt 1791 Year of Registration: 1869 Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun Age at Death: 78 District: Cosford County: Suffolk Volume: 4a Page: 303
Bearing in mind that the year of birth on a death record is not always correct, the following are all the John Ransons that died between 1837 - 1983, that were born 5yrs either side of 1791. John Ranson abt 1791 1869 Apr-May-Jun Cosford Suffolk John Ranson abt 1788 1869 Oct-Nov-Dec Samford Suffolk John Ranson abt 1796 1870 Jul-Aug-Sep Bradford Yorkshire - West Riding, West Yorkshire John Ranson abt 1789 1872 Oct-Nov-Dec Leeds (1837-1929) Yorkshire - West Riding John Ranson abt 1786 1874 Jul-Aug-Sep Durham (1837-1938) Durham
With regards to your query about a CD-Rom of the births/marriages/deaths, i would believe that you would obtain this either from the local registery office in Ipswich, or maybe from the same place that you can obtain the actual certificates from (as they would hold them all/have acces to the whole countries records), maybe give them a call. Thanks Ceri

Hi Thelma You have asked me to look up on 1841 Census for Sophia Thomas, in Hampshire. However you have not said how old she was likely to have been or whether Hampshire was where she was born or just where she lived. I currently have 170 results!! Thanks Ceri

Colin If Charles was born out of wedlock it might not necessarily be put on his birth cert to that effect (remember it wasnt allowed and so they tended to lie!! ALOT in fact, as i found out with my family, lol , you could even find out that his parents never were married they just told everyone they were to prevent her being sent to prison etc, and by the time they had had children it was then to late to be married as they had already said they were)
Maybe try looking for death certs, try her maiden name and married name, i would also try checking out whether they died shortly after charles birth, either by locating death certs or maybe enquiring with Barnardo's or similar (some people have acces to adopted/fostered children records, unfortunately i dont), failing that maybe try visiting libaries etc close to where they originated etc, check for parish records, newspaper archives etc. Ceri
