Hi Ian, Thanks so much for looking for my Mary Ellen and Joseph. I'm afraid I don't know the name or whereabouts of the nursing home, anyhow I am just grateful you found the marriage deails for me. Ian is there any chance you could look up a WW1 soldier for me.......His name was Ralph Hartley (Private)
11585, 14th Bn., Royal Warwickshire Regiment,
Died 25 October 1917 and is buried at Tyne Cot Memorial in Belgium. Killed I believe in action. He was born in 1893, England. I would love to know any information at all about him (my grandfather) was he injured, where did he live before he enlisted just anything would be great.

Thank you..
Kind regards

mary

Camille Report 24 Aug 2007 16:44

Hi again Ian /Ceri , may I have a search for census 1851 and 61 please?

Mary Alice or Alice Sumner, Ithink, according to the 1871 census she was born Newbury ,Berks. 1846.
I have confirmation of her marriage 1869 in Mortimer, Berks. to George Rampton.
I aso have Birth cert. for a Daughter , Emma Jane Sumner ...Born Rotherwick , Hants. 1866, she was born 3 years before Alice Sumner married.
I only need to find, if possible, where she is on a census to trace her Parents and possible Siblings.
Her Father's name on Marriage cert. states his name as Charles Sumner ( Ag. Lab.)

Many thanks

Date of departure: 11 February 1910
Port of departure: Glasgow
Passenger destination port: Saint John Nb,Canada
Passenger destination: Saint John Nb, Canada
Age: 49

Master's name: John Mitchell
Steamship Line: Donaldson
Where bound: Saint John Nb, Canada

Hi Sarah,

This is his death record
WRIGHT, Frederick Ernest 30 August 1931 Bexley 1991 June Volume No 11, Page No 430 Reg No 691

This is his birth
Frederick E Wright, mothers maiden name =House, Born Brighton vol 2b page 256

I have found the following marriage, but cannot confirm that it is definately him, however if you obtain both his birth cert and the marriage cert you should be able to confirm this.

Hope this helps

Thank you very much for the time and effort you have put into this research for me, sorry for not putting the area which the family were from, was Aldbury, Herts mainly but also Bucks. Seems it's always different with parishes, districts, sub districts etc. Anyway you've given me plenty to look into, thanks again

Colin

With regards to your query regarding death certs being given for victims of war, i really dont know the answer for sure, however you will note that from the information on the war death i found earlier that i was able to find an index for them (vol no and page no.) whether this would allow you to obtain the actual certificate or whether it would be for further information surrounding his death i dont know.

But i would say that i am under the impression that with the death index you would be able to apply for the death cert (Maybe from the army direct)

Thanks
Ceri

Hi Ever
Sorry bout delay but i have been trying to check all records for you,
I cannot find a Mary Ellen Maggs on the passenger lists, or a Mary Ellen Thomson (other than one, travelling with a Joseph but this was in 1919, so at that point she wouldnt have been Thomson)

I have also looked at the deaths overseas records from 1993 onwards and have nothing for her in the name of Thomson up to and including 2005, she could of remarried maybe or long shot i know but still alive she would be 104yrs!!

Have you tried contacting the nursing home she was in?
Thanks

Hi Ian/Ceri
Many thanks for the Scollon information. I already had Ann (1835) in 1851 living in Hulme, Lancs where she was the niece of Michael and Sarah (Ann) Garity. I have been trying to find Sarah's maiden name and though the Scollon connection might lead me to it. Michael was born in Ireland and Sarah in Sheffield. I don't know whether Ann Scollon was the niece of Michael or Sarah.
Do you have info on births prior to 1837? If so would you be able to find a Sarah/Ann Scollon born Sheffield c 1811-1814 please.
Thanks for your help
Mary

Hi Ian - could you look up 1881, 1891 & 1901 census for
Sydney Bullard b 1880 around the Southwark, Lambeth Surrey UK area?

From what I can make out, his father is Frederick. If the Father is correct, I will have to get the other earlier censuses checked, but this will do for the moment.
He married a Beatrice Howell, I believe, tho I have no record of it - in 1901 around that area.

Thanks heaps - Im in Australia
Judy
