Find Ancestors

Hi Lynda, I am looking for HURREN (poss HUREN) and LOVELL in Holborn. In 1881 they were at 22 and 23 Union Buildings, Leather Lane, Holborn. The closest to 1871 I can get an address is 1879 when my Gt Grandfather was born at 18 Union Bldgs, Holborn (St Andrew Eastern sub district). There should be William Hurren, French Polisher, b Marylebone, aged 27, wife Sarah Hurren, b Shoreditch, aged 26 and children including Sarah, William, Amelia and Eliza all b Holborn. Also Sarah's mother Amelia Lovell aged about 53 and her husband William Lovell (but she may widowed). Thanks, Linda

Kia Ora from NZ I am seeking: Betsy and Tingey BURGESS 3 Endell St Piece 0329/49 page 25 in 1881. They were married St George's Hanover Square in 1859 and then went to Canada so it's a bit of a long shot!. 3 Children should be there Also: George and Emily (Amy) Fairy. I believe the piece I have is RG 78 pg 7 and it will be the Royal Chelsea Hospital I think but a kind person photocopied the page and I can't tell where it is!!!! Please could you look up anything to do with the Abley family I believe they were resident at Bethnal Green, born there or married their. The names are Fredrick Abley father, Platt is the mothers name, childrens names are Vera, Sidney, Fredrick, Jean, Dorothy, Len, I am having trouble finding details although Abley is quite an unusual name. Thaning you so much for any help you can give me.

Hi Robert I will have a look if I have photo's of the Street. I do have some of the bottom of Freeling Street, where my Granparents had a fruit & veg stall, but that really is only of the stall, and I do have one of me in my nans garden sitting on the back wall with me in a brides veil,ag e3 but sure you don't want to see that one! will let you know if I have any that show you the houses. Hi Susan Yes it was in the 1871 there is a Upper Freeling Street, but It wasn't there when I was born in the 1950's It was a great place to grow up, friendly lovely "real" people I think if I could go back and have my youth again it would be there. Anything you want to know about the area please ask. Lynda

Hi Robert I'm afraid that Louis Billett was not at number 12 Freeling Street. I don't know if this is of any interest to you, but my Grandparents lived at number 8 Freeling Street in the 1940/50's and I lived in the next Street, so spent lots of my time in Freeling Street. The houses are no longer there, but the houses were quite small no bathroom outside toilet, there were 6 rooms two of which were in the basement of the house. The area was bombed during the 2nd world war, and I spent much of my childhood playing in the bombed ruins! In 1871 there were 16 people living there. I cannot imagine where they put them! It is just off the Caledonion Road, which is just down the road from Kings Cross. Hope I haven't bored you! Lynda

Damn Thanks again Lynda. I will find them in 1871 if it kills me. LOL (not literally, but you know what I mean) If only I could find William Littlejohns birth, I would most definately have their address in 1871. Hopefully ancestry will have the 1871 census easily searchable when it is up and running.

Hi Lynda, Could you possibly look up 1 Flints Court in Bethnal Green. I am looking for a family named PRESTON, head John, wife Sarah Ann and daughter Sarah Ann.
